Sarah Brown stared at her phone, still stunned, then turned to Larry Adams. “Larry, what’s with Mr. Williams suddenly making such a big show of things? That’s so not his style.”

Larry grinned. “What else? Haven’t you heard all the rumors flying around lately? People have been saying he and Camila broke up.”

“Camila’s busy, she can’t exactly run around shutting everyone up,” Sarah replied, shaking her head. “But I doubt she even cares what people say.”

“Dennis isn’t like that,” Larry continued, still smiling. “Even the smallest slight, he won’t let Camila suffer it. That’s why he brought Lillian along to that business dinner—he wanted everyone to see that they’re solid.”

Sarah blinked, surprised. She hadn’t realized Dennis had such a motive for bringing Lillian along. The thought warmed her heart. For a man as accomplished and reserved as Dennis Williams to go to such lengths for Camila… it really said something.

Larry tucked his phone away, then added, “You know, everyone used to say Dennis was like a monk—totally indifferent, devoted to work, emotionless. He even spent a few years at that monastery upstate, living like a hermit. Some even joked he didn’t like women at all—maybe he liked men instead.”

“But I always knew,” Larry went on, “he just hadn’t met the right woman. Dennis is the type that, once he falls, he falls hard. That’s why I always supported him and Camila from the start. Once Dennis makes up his mind about someone, he doesn’t change it.”

Sarah smiled, touched by the whole thing. “Well, I guess I have good instincts. Setting those two up was definitely the right call!”

Larry laughed with her. “Tonight’s going to break a few hearts, I bet! Especially among the country club ladies.”
