Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1273

They both felt pretty great about it. After signing the papers, they stood together and made their vows, right in front of the clerk. In less than thirty minutes, their marriage certificates were hot off the press.

Camila stared at the little red booklet in her hands, her mind spinning. Was she really married to Dennis now? The whole thing felt unreal, like she was watching someone else’s life.

Even though this wasn’t her first marriage, the last one felt like a distant memory. Her time with Jordan Smith had been anything but happy. From what everyone told her, they hadn’t even picked up their marriage license together. There was no way to compare that to today.

Everything about this felt new and safe. Camila let herself smile, leaning her head on Dennis’s shoulder, her face glowing with a sweetness she hadn’t felt in years. “I guess we’re in this together now, Mr. Williams.”

Dennis couldn’t help but laugh quietly at the old-fashioned way she said it. She used to call him that when they first met. It had been ages since he’d heard her say it, and it brought back memories.

He bent down, kissed her forehead, his voice soft and full of affection. “I’m looking forward to it too, Mrs. Williams.”

Such a simple title, but when Camila heard it, her heart felt full, warmed like someone had poured honey inside. Sweet and completely satisfying.

She reached for the certificate in Dennis’s hand. “Let me take a quick photo so I can share the news.”

“Go ahead,” Dennis said, watching her with a gentle smile.

The marriage certificate itself was nothing special, but in the photo, the two of them just looked right together. Camila snapped a quick picture and thought it was perfect. She wasted no time sending it off to her family chat and friend group.

We’re married!

She’d barely hit send before Sarah Brown, Aurora Robinson, Larry Adams, and a whole crowd of friends started flooding the chat with congratulations. Melissa George and her husband chimed in, and the Williams family was over the moon.

Charlotte Kelly wrote, “Camila, Aunt Charlotte wishes you and Dennis a lifetime of happiness, lots of love, and peace.”

Ablett added, “Let’s all get together for lunch to celebrate, just the families. You two can have your own little celebration tonight. We won’t get in your way.”
