Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1266

“She doesn’t even remember you anymore. Everything you two had, it’s gone. Now her body’s breaking down from all those meds. Someone like that… she’s no use to you at all.”

He meant for Dennis to walk away from Camila, to do as the family said and follow their plans. But the second he finished talking, Dennis’s eyes turned ice cold. That look made Galen shiver.

“She means more to me than your entire Collins family ever could,” Dennis replied, his voice flat. “Not everyone treats people like tools, the way you do. You think you can order me around? You don’t even come close. And tell me, Mr. Collins, when are you planning to retire? Or do you just want to stand by and watch the Collins Group fade, lose everything, and fall from the top spot in Cabinda?”

Galen stared at him, stunned. He’d poured his heart into persuading Dennis, and not only was he rejected, he was getting threatened. Galen’s face twisted with anger. “How dare you! Dennis Williams, have you forgotten you carry Collins blood?”

He tried to use that as a warning. Dennis just scoffed.

“Forgotten? Not even for a second.” Dennis’s words came out clear and slow, each one cutting through the tension.

There was nothing warm in his tone. The chill in his voice seemed to drain the authority from both generations of Collins men in the room.

Mr. Collins saw Dennis’s attitude and knew this wasn’t someone they could push around. If they tried to force him, it would only backfire.

He shot his son a hard look and cut him off. “Sit down. Dennis finally came home. Calm yourself.”

Galen’s jaw was tight with anger, but he didn’t dare go against his father. He sat back down in silence.

After scolding Galen, Mr. Collins turned to his grandson. His eyes were clouded, his expression complicated. “Dennis, you could stand to show a little respect too. We’re family. Why are things like this? You’re a Collins. If you want it, everything we have could be yours. All we ask is you give us an heir. That’s it.”
