Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1206

Sarah almost burst into tears reading Aurora’s message. “Aurora, you’re the best!!!”

While they joked back and forth, Sarah made her way to Larry Adams’s place. Larry was waiting outside in the yard, still in his pajamas, a big coat thrown over them.

The second she spotted him, Sarah ran straight into his arms. Larry caught her easily, his low laugh rumbling in her ear. “I let you go, and you just come running right back? Did you ever think maybe you’re not getting out of here tonight?”

Sarah felt her cheeks burn. Honestly, she hadn’t thought that far ahead. She tried to look serious. “I’m on the run, you know.”

Larry smiled at her, so soft and warm. “So you ran to me. Smart choice. Don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe here.”

Without another word, he scooped her up and carried her inside. He took her straight to his room. “Go get changed,” he said.

Ever since they’d made things official, Larry had filled half his closet with her clothes and stuff. He was such a boyfriend, it made Sarah’s heart flutter in ways she couldn’t control.

She glanced up at him, her nerves buzzing. Without thinking, she traced her finger along his palm and whispered, “Or… maybe you could help me?”

His gaze darkened, but he didn’t move. “Are you sure?”

Sarah grinned, feeling bold. She teased, “What, you don’t know how? Want me to show you?”

She grabbed his much bigger hand and placed it on the buttons of her coat. His fingers, long and sure, slowly slipped each button free…

The night outside was freezing, but inside it was warm and cozy. Layer by layer, her clothes fell away, skin glowing in the soft light. Her long hair tumbled over her shoulders, making her look wild and impossibly beautiful.

Sarah braced herself on his shoulders, her cheeks flushed with longing. Larry’s coat was already on the floor, and a few buttons of his pajamas had come undone, giving his usual calm a hint of something much more dangerous.

She couldn’t help but stare. He looked so good, she almost wanted to take a bite. Her boyfriend was seriously delicious.

Memories of that blurry night came rushing back. Both of them were a little impatient, and neither held back. Larry took charge, picking her up and settling her on the edge of his dresser, kissing her hard.

Just as he leaned in, Sarah suddenly remembered something. She pulled back, worried. “Wait… last time, I could barely get out of bed the next day. You’re not going to make me regret this, right? Maybe… just go slow?”

She still had a little fear lingering.

Larry’s eyes were rimmed with red, his voice rough and deep. “If biology didn’t lie, it only hurts the first time. After that, you should be fine. Didn’t you pay attention in school?”

Sarah pouted, “I did, but… it’s not like I’ve had any practice. Or wait… did I?”

Sarah’s sneaky escape was anything but quiet. Waldo and Beatty, who were just about to go to bed, got up to investigate.

“What’s all that noise? Why aren’t you asleep?”

They both looked at their son. “Who were you yelling for just now? Where’s Sarah? Her door’s wide open and her room’s empty.”

Billy sighed, rolling his eyes. “She ran away from home.”

“What?” Both parents looked stunned. “Why would she run away in the middle of the night?”

The shock quickly turned to concern, their faces growing stern. They glared at Billy, voices sharp.

“What were you trying to do to your sister? Were you going to punish her?”

Beatty shook her head, disappointment written all over her face. “That’s not right. Sarah’s still a kid. If she does something wrong, just talk to her. How could you let her run out in the middle of the night? It’s freezing out there. Don’t you care about her at all?”

Billy was speechless, frustration rising. The more they scolded him, the more he wanted to give Sarah a piece of his mind. He tried to explain, “I didn’t do anything. She just got scared and ran off by herself.”
