Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1205

Sarah hooked her arm through her dad's and put on her sweetest, most innocent voice. “Dad, look at him. How can he accuse me of something like that? I’m just looking out for him. I was the one who suggested having dinner with the Robinsons, and he turns around and says I’m just going to watch him make a fool of himself…”

Her eyes were huge and pleading, and Waldo couldn’t help but soften.

The Brown family patriarch cleared his throat. “Sarah’s family. There’s no way we’re meeting the Robinsons without her. That’s final. She’s coming with us tomorrow. If you try to leave her out, your mom and I are staying home. You can go alone if you want.”

Beatty nodded immediately. “Your dad’s right. Why would you leave your sister out? If you do, we’re not going either.”

Billy just stared at them, speechless.

What choice did he have? Even though he knew Sarah had something up her sleeve, he had no way out. He had to take her.

Sarah was more than satisfied. She didn’t care anymore that her brother had ruined the vibe earlier. Back in her room, she was practically buzzing as she made a new group chat.

“Okay, everyone, get ready. I’m going to live-stream the whole thing tomorrow when my brother gets grilled by his future in-laws.”

She dragged Larry Adams, Camila Davis, Dennis Williams, Audrey Williams, and Walter Wilson into the group.

Walter saw how excited she was and typed, “Aren’t you worried Jordan Smith will find out?”

Camila chimed in, “Warning: broken legs incoming!”

Sarah sent a shifty-eyed emoji and whispered, “That’s why this is our secret. Don’t breathe a word to Billy. I’m giving you guys ammunition for the future—use it to blackmail my brother whenever you want!”

Audrey couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re such a real one for Lillian. He must have tortured you a lot when you were younger, huh?”

Sarah didn’t even get a chance to respond before Dennis popped in. “Audrey, don’t encourage her,” he said, then turned to Sarah. “Who’s the extra person in here?”

No one had a chance to react. Suddenly, a short voice message appeared in the chat.

When they played it, Billy’s voice came through, low and threatening. “Sarah Brown, are you trying to die?”

Sarah stared at the familiar profile picture and felt her stomach drop. In all her excitement, she hadn’t noticed she’d added one person too many. All the contacts were pinned, right in a row. She must have tapped the wrong one.

She was so dead.

No time to explain. She bolted from the group, threw on some clothes, and yanked her door open. The second she stepped out, her eyes met Billy’s as he came out of his room.

Panic shot through her. She turned on her heel and ran.

“Sarah Brown, stop right there!”
