Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1192

Melissa didn’t overthink it. She figured they were just heading to see a doctor, so she nodded without hesitation. “Go on, take her. Don’t worry about anything here, we’ll take care of Lillian.”

Dennis quickly changed Camila’s clothes and rushed her out the door. Kyle was already waiting in the medical room. As soon as Dennis walked in carrying Camila, Kyle got straight to work checking her over.

Dennis hovered nearby, anxiety building with every passing second. He watched Kyle’s face grow more serious and finally couldn’t stay quiet. “Is she okay?”

Kyle set his tools aside and looked Dennis in the eye. “Her immune system is getting weaker. She should stay at the institute for now so we can keep a close watch and catch anything that changes.”

Dennis didn’t even have time to respond before Jarvis and Mr. Williams showed up, both looking just as worried. They headed straight for the monitors, checking Camila’s vitals. When they finished, both men wore matching frowns.

“The medication is starting to damage her body,” Mr. Williams said, shaking his head. “That’s why her immunity is so low. Her numbers are all over the place.”

Dennis felt panic wash over him. “What should we do? Could this cold make things even worse for her in the long run?”

Guilt twisted inside him. He couldn’t stop replaying last night, blaming himself for pushing her too hard. If she hadn’t been so worn out, maybe she wouldn’t have caught this so easily. He wished he could go back and stop himself from being so careless.

Jarvis noticed the heavy mood. He tried to offer a little hope. “Let’s not panic. Camila’s still stable, and everyone’s giving it their all. We’ll have good news soon, I’m sure of it.”

It was meant to be reassuring, and Dennis wanted to believe it. He’d brought in top experts from all over the medical world. They were working around the clock, taking shifts, running experiment after experiment, all focused on finding a cure.

If G-1 could be created, someone could figure out how to beat it. It was just a matter of time. Jarvis was sure of that. Professor Keri might be a genius, but he wasn’t a miracle worker. With the best minds from around the globe working together, there had to be a way. Jarvis just couldn’t accept that all of them together wouldn’t be able to outsmart one person.
