Emily suddenly gasped, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Holy smokes... it went up by over a hundred thousand... How much time has passed, anyway? Are your followers nuts? Do they do nothing all day but refresh their Twitter feeds waiting for your updates?"
Sullivan cocked an eyebrow with a smirk. "It's just a pastime for the bored... And besides, a hundred thousand, is that a lot?"
Emily, looking heavenward as if seeking divine arithmetic, began to count on her fingers. "With billions of followers, a hundred thousand really isn't much."
"There you go."
"So... I'm guessing the numbers will just keep climbing."
"So, having poached so many of my fans, how do you plan to thank me?"
"How about a peck on the cheek? Would you treasure that?"
"Not really... Wait till you're all grown up, a knockout beauty - then maybe. But who wants a peck from a kid?"
"That's your loss... not my stinginess."
"Cheeky brat!"
"Hmph, my mentor is just as thick-skinned, I learned from the best!"
"You can read all this?"
"Mom started teaching me when I was three... I've always had a good memory, could recognize a ton of words. So, when I got better, my mom and mentor thought about sending me to preschool, but I wasn't having it. Who wants to play with a bunch of kids who can't even read?"
"Then you could go to elementary school."
"I don't like school either... don't like being around too many people."
"You're still not fully recovered."
As she arrived, Marilyn Bishop had just finished her work. Seeing her daughter, her face brightened with a smile, "Steph, what brings you here?"
"The set's on a break, Emily's at the hospital visiting a patient, and I got bored, so I came to see you."
She said, reverting to her childlike ways, looping her arm through her mother's and nuzzling against it, cooing, "Did you miss me, Mom?"
Marilyn couldn't help but laugh, "You're still such a baby at heart... Who's sick?"
"Sullivan."
At his name, Marilyn frowned, "You should keep your distance from him, given the scandal you two were involved in before. Luckily, Seb trusts you... That's all in the past now, but men can be sensitive about these things."
"Mom... Silver Fox really trusts Sullivan. I think they've had a chat in private... He was fine with Emily and me visiting Sullivan. Today, I even went to Granny Wendy's to get some cornbread! Do you realize how small this world is? Granny Wendy just told me about a little beggar boy who came to her door asking for food, so she gave him two pieces of cornbread. And when I brought some to Sullivan today, he said he was that beggar boy... Talk about a coincidence."
