Spoiled by the Silver Fox novel Chapter 778

Stephanie chuckled, "Thanks for guiding us here. Let’s head on inside."

Suddenly, the door was pushed open from the outside.

Sullivan instinctively glanced up at the entrance, his face breaking into a warm smile as he saw two familiar figures, one tall and one short, beaming back at him.

With a playful raise of his eyebrows, he greeted, “Look who’s here.”

“Sullivan, got your cornbread right here... still hot from the oven, you better dig in quick,” said Stephanie, holding out a wrapped parcel.

Sullivan looked at her with a hint of surprise, “Cornbread? In this day and age? How on earth did you manage to find that?”

Stephanie responded with a smug grin, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way! It’s all about the effort, you know?”

Emily chimed in with a smile, “My roommate actually went back to her hometown just to learn the recipe from the old lady next door. She even kneaded the dough herself.”

Sullivan laughed, “I appreciate it, thanks.”

His anticipation grew as he opened the thermos and took out a piece of the cornbread, which was indeed still steaming hot.

Stephanie unveiled another container, “And here, we’ve got some pickles… a whole variety of them. Wasn't sure which kind you'd like, so I brought a little of each.”

Sullivan took the container and picked some pickles with his utensils, placing them on the cornbread to take a bite. It tasted just like he remembered…

Without betraying his thoughts, he casually asked Stephanie, “Which part of town are you from?”

“Willow Lane, out in the suburbs. Why? Have you been there, Sullivan?”

“Yeah, been there.”

“Is the cornbread to your liking?”

“It’s delicious... was it made by an elderly lady?”

“That’s right.”

“How old is she now?”

“She must be in her seventies, I guess…”

“That’s her, then.”

“What?”

Seeing him enjoy it made Emily curious, “Give me a piece. Is it really that good?”

Without hesitation, Sullivan handed her a piece.

Emily took a bite and immediately spat it out, wiping her mouth, “This is awful…”

“Nonsense, this is the best thing I’ve tasted in this world. Don’t throw it away. If you won’t eat it, give it back!”

“Oh…” Emily reluctantly returned the half-eaten cornbread to him.

Unbothered, Sullivan continued eating it along with the pickles.

Not until he had finished the last piece from the jar did he speak up contentedly, “Not bad... another regret in life, addressed.”

“A life regret?”

Sullivan explained with a lift of his brow, “Such a delicious thing… that kind woman only gave me two pieces back then… when I asked for more, she said there weren’t any left… broke my heart…”

“Why didn’t you go back for more later?”

“Too much time had passed, I forgot the way there… I just knew it was somewhere around that area.”
