"Hmph, of course I didn't! They just sent me to apologize, and I did, but then they made such a big fuss afterward. If you want a scene, I'll give you one! I won't admit to something I didn't do!"
"Save it for the cops," came the retort.
Sebastian had a change of heart.
If Yolanda's backer was that hard to track, then he'd let that be.
He'd force Yolanda to show her hand instead.
Her confidence about going to the police station must come from her protector.
He was curious to see which member of the Ingram family it was.
After Yolanda left, Gracie looked at Sebastian with grateful eyes. "Thanks, President Ingram, for standing up for me."
Sebastian replied coolly, "It's nothing."
"Silver Fox, so when you said you were busy and couldn't visit Gracie with me, you were dealing with Yolanda! Nicely done! She's such a pain. Remember at Mr. Finnegan's birthday? She was picking on me the whole time. Mr. Finnegan wanted me as the lead actress, and she was sour about it, saying they're lifting me too high and I'll fall hard. So annoying. And if she's behind what happened to Gracie, that's just evil."
Sebastian's gaze turned frosty as he looked at her. "Will you throw a tantrum next time? Hang up on me for no reason? Can't bear a few words?"
Stephanie opened her mouth, then glanced around, embarrassed to be called out by Silver Fox in front of so many. She hung her head and mumbled, "I know I was wrong."
"And will it happen again?"
"No, it won't."
Emily giggled from the side, "Seb, Stephanie was bad-mouthing you all the way here."
Gracie and the others found it amusing. "President Ingram, don't take it to heart with Steph. She's just a kid, and a sensible one at that, coming to see me. She probably just blurted it out in a fit of pique."
Stephanie nodded vigorously. "Right, Silver Fox wouldn't come pick me up, and he was mad at me, so I was just venting."
Sebastian took a deep breath. "I spoiled her. I deserve it."
Everyone couldn't help but laugh.
Stephanie, a bit embarrassed, went over to him, tugging at his arm playfully. "Come on, Silver Fox, don't be mad. I'll go home with you and make you something delicious, okay?"
Sebastian's eyes darkened. "Not going back to the set?"
"Tomorrow's scene. I can talk to Grandpa about it, shoot it in the afternoon. I can go home tonight."
