Sullivan's mouth twitched with irritation. "Respect? That's something you show your elders."
"But you're practically forty. If not an elder, then what?"
Was this girl here just to ruffle feathers?
Sullivan's gaze was frosty as he looked at her. "For the record, I'm only thirty-eight."
"And do you know how old I am, Sullivan?"
"Hmm?"
"I just turned twenty."
A whole eighteen years his junior.
So wasn't calling him an elder somewhat justified?
Sullivan felt his world crumbling inside.
He didn't want to engage in this conversation any longer.
Before Emmert could start his rant, Sullivan had already begun to get ready.
Stephanie, in high spirits, also started her preparations.
Emily sat on Emmert's lap, her smile beaming as she said, "My sister has such a gentle nature, she gets along with everyone."
Emmert shot her a glaring look. "What's the use of a good nature!"
"It's very useful. Wherever she goes, so many people like her!"
"And what's the use of being liked by many?"
Emily cast a mocking glance his way. "Emmert, with your grumpy old man temper, I bet no one likes you."
"I've got talent. People's feelings towards me are of admiration, not about being liked."
"That means you'll never know the wonderful feeling of being liked."
Emmert thought, "So, was this girl here just to tick me off too? To think I'm carrying you on my lap at my age, taking you around on movie sets for fun!"
The evening shoot took over three hours to wrap up to Emmert's satisfaction. Finally, he waved his hand and announced, "That's a wrap!"
"I'm not a fan of crowds."
"But it's so boring staying in the hotel. Sullivan, you're pushing forty, if you don't get out and live a little now, you'll be too old to enjoy it later."
Sullivan thought, "Why does she keep reminding me that I'm old? Is this girl asking for trouble?"
Seeing Sullivan's eyes grow colder, Stephanie let out a sheepish laugh. "Come on, it'll be fun. I even told Maximus and the others you'd come, they were shocked! I've made the claim now, if you don't show up, I'll lose face!"
"Showboating gets you struck by lightning! So young and yet so eager to show off, you better watch out or you'll get zapped one day!"
"Sullivan, I didn't know you'd say things like that. Not so saintly after all! Just like Silver Fox!"
"Hmm?" Sullivan was perplexed.
Stephanie laughed as she explained, "When you first meet Silver Fox, doesn't he seem like some lofty, divine being? But spend some time with him and you'll see even Silver Fox is human. You're the same, Sullivan."
Sullivan raised an eyebrow. "You really want me to go that bad?"
"Yeah, really want you to!" Stephanie nodded emphatically.
"Fine, give me five minutes at the door. I'll change my clothes."
