Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 80

As expected, Jason frowned.

Nell lifted a brow.

Lifting her wrist, she took a glance at the time.

It was half-past ten at night.

Although it was not very late, it was not early either.

She pursed her lips. “It’s fine. You should stay longer and have fun since you’re that enthusiastic!”

Nell then proceeded to take strides to the lift without glancing back.

Celine’s face was washed of its color.

She wanted to call her, but Nell, with her heart set on leaving, paid no attention to her.

Celine was fuming.

‘Godd*mn it! Why isn’t Mia here yet?’

Beside her, the furrow between Jason’s brows deepened.

“Celine, don’t force her if she doesn’t want to. Let’s go over. There are people there waiting for us.”

Celine was thrown into panic.

As the lift doors began closing, Celine gnashed her teeth and charged ahead.

“Sister!’

Jason glowered.

Even Nell who was already in the lift, frowned.

The next second, Nell had one hand on the ‘open’ button and the other propping Celine up. Blue in the face, she chided, “Find some other place to die in if you’re really that sick of living! Don’t be an eyesore here!”

Jason dashed over and held Celine up. It was quite a menacing look on his face.

“What are you doing? Don’t you know how dangerous it was?”

Of course Celine was aware how dangerous it was.

She was petrified thinking back but there was no turning back at that point.

Mia still was not there, so Nell needed to stick around.

Celine was about to speak when suddenly, a middle-aged man came sprinting from outside. The man took a glance at the trio before his gaze fixated on Nell. He uttered with the utmost respect, “Are you, Ms. Nell Jennings?”

Nell nodded.

“There’s been an accident involving your friend on the twelfth floor, Ms. Hancock. We would like you to come up for a second.”

...

Nell followed the staff member to the guest room.

Celine and Jason came along too.

The moment they stepped out of the lift, they were welcomed by a rather heavy atmosphere haunting the entire floor. Security personnel gathered by the entrance of one of the guest rooms while ruckus stirred inside.

Celine made a face.

Jason was still in the dark of what was going on. However, his instincts urged him to tag along when he noticed Nell looking out of sorts after a brief encounter with the staff member.

The huge scene stirring inside prompted his inquiry. “What happened?”

Nell turned back to throw him a quick glance before fixating her gaze on Celine with a pretentious smile.

“I don’t know myself. Celine, do you know anything about it?”

Celine strenuously tugged the corner of her lips.

“How would I know if you are unclear about it?”

Observing her pale face, Jason asked, “Is something the matter? Are you feeling under the weather?”

Celine’s eyes alighted with a glint.

Others may not recognize the voice from the row inside but she did.

It was Mia.

Was she caught?

It was highly unlikely. With everyone downstairs in the ballroom during the time, who apprehended her?

For her safety’s sake, it was best she kept a distance. Hence, she forced a smile, falling her hand on her forehead.

“Brother Jay, I have a headache. I might have caught a cold.”

“Then...”

She scoffed. “If I remember correctly, your room should be on the eighth floor. How did you end up on the twelfth floor?”

Mia was speechless.

In a fluster, she turned to glance at Celine before fumbling over her words. “Can’t you accept that I-I was drunk?”

“Drunk?” Janet smirked. “Drunk enough to come and ransack someone else’s room? Can’t you come up with some solid facts before you tell a lie? Moreover, I saw that your head was clear when you took out a flash drive to copy a document from the computer!”

Mia was caught off balance.

Still, she feigned ignorance. “What document? I don’t know what you are talking about!”

Without wasting another breath, Janet ordered the bodyguards to search her body for the flash drive.

“Anything else to say?”

Mia was out of excuses to fire back with the flash drive found.

Amid her silence, Janet asked Nell, “How should we take care of this?”

Mia glared at Nell with all her might.

The look she gave her had nuances of threat and warning.

Nell mockingly curled her lips. Her gaze was distant.

“Let the police handle it!”

“What?”

Mia cried out in shock, “Nell, don’t take a mile just because I gave an inch! It’ll land us both in hot water if I were to expose the truth!”

Nell sneered. “I’m tempted to find out how much hot water I’ll be landing in by the supposed truth you’re speaking of.”

By this time, the crowd who caught wind of the situation had begun to build up.

Many stood by the door, stirring up a storm in murmurs.

“Sigh, what’s the deal? Why did Mia Bell go to her room to steal a document?”

“I don’t know! Could it be some trade secret?”

“If that were the case, stealing intellectual property is a major crime. That’s at least a few years in prison, right?”

“Yes but she deserves it! The audacity to come into someone’s room to steal!”
