Thinking of this, Nancy only felt more distressed.
She hurried to Nell after seeing her get out of the car. With a towel and water already prepared on hand, she asked in distress, “Nelly, how are you feeling? Are you tired?”
Nell looked at her and smiled while shaking her head. “I’m fine.”
Exhaustion was physical, but psychological comfort sometimes was able to sooth the physical hardship.
When she first started practicing, she did feel a little off. However, after four hours of practicing, she felt much better. Although she had not returned to her peak form, she had at least made a lot of progress.
She believed that as long as she practiced diligently over the next two days, she would definitely be able to return to her best state.
As she thought about this, Nell asked, "What time is it now?"
Nancy looked at the time. “Just past midnight.”
Nell nodded. “It’s late now. Let’s go back.”
“Okay.”
The two of them packed up their stuff, returned the car to the person who was previously in charge of welcoming them, and then prepared to leave.
The man who had welcomed them was now in a state of shock after watching Nell's practice. He looked at the woman in front of him in disbelief, and his mouth was so wide you could stuff an egg in it.
“You, what is your name? Have I seen you race before somewhere?“
Nell smiled and hesitated a little, not giving out her old code name. She smiled generously and said, "My name is Nell Jennings."
Seven was her code name in the Dragon Regiment. However, in a non-competitive situation like this, she preferred to use her real name. Her natural and unobtrusive manner made others feel carefree.
The person slightly furrowed his brows as he thought carefully because he could not recall seeing this name before throughout his various competitions.
Assuming that she was a newcomer with huge talent, he did not think too much about it.
He gave Nell a thumbs-up and praised her, “Your driving skills are amazing. If you were to enter competitions, you’ll definitely win.”
Nell smiled. “Thank you for your compliment.”
Only then did the two of them leave.
When they returned to the hotel, it was almost 1:00 a.m.
After having practiced for so long at night and expended a lot of energy, Nell was a little hungry, so Nancy ordered a lighter takeaway for each of them to eat as a midnight snack.
After eating, she went to take a shower. It was exactly 2:00 a.m. when she went to sleep.
It was obvious that her body was already tired, and the jet lag coupled with the highly intensive practice had squeezed almost all the strength out of her body.
However, right now, as she lay in bed, she could not sleep in the slightest.
She picked up her phone and looked at it. Gideon had sent a text message at 8:30 p.m. asking if she had eaten and what she was doing.
Since she was about to start driving and it would be inconvenient to reply, she simply responded that she had eaten and was outside enjoying with Nancy.
Probably because he did not want to disturb her, the man only told her to be safe and then stopped sending any more messages.
She exited the message and looked through her photos again. In the past few years, Gideon, her two children, and she had taken quite a number of photos. Her phone album was almost full of them.
The family's close and intimate appearance was heartwarming and blissful at a glance.
She could not be bothered to talk such nonsense with him and got straight to the point. "Can I ask you something?"
Gregory sipped his milk slowly and asked, “What is it?”
“Nine years ago, when you rescued me from sea, you told me that the people who harmed me had a flaming mark at the back of their necks. Is that true?”
Gregory’s fingers that were holding the cup paused slightly. A dark light flashed in his eyes as he chuckled. “Why are you suddenly asking this?”
“Gregory, I want to look for those people. I want to know who initially wanted to kill me, and what happened in those months of memories I lost. I’ve helped you this time, so will you help me by telling me everything you know?"
While Gregory stayed silent, his slender fingers gently rubbed the edge of the cup and his gaze was unreadable.
“Little Seven, that's all in the past. You’re living so happily now, so why are you trying to pursue that so-called truth? Are those incidents that important to you?”
Nell pursed her lips. She knew that Gregory was not one to easily open his mouth.
This person seemed unfettered and dissolute on the surface, but in reality, his thoughts were deep and unfathomable.
It was harder to pry open his mouth without a certain amount of leverage than it was to climb to heaven.
While thinking about this, she lowered her eyes and suddenly asked, "Why do you want to win this Flying Competition?"
Gregory smiled lightly. “Little Seven, are you looking for a bargaining chip to make a deal with me?”
Nell paused.
After all, he was the one who had taught her by hand. It could be said that she simply had nowhere to hide from him.
She sighed, not bothering to refute. “Yeah, I want to make a deal with you. I have no other chips besides using this competition. I don’t know how important this competition is to you, but I know that the 20% bonus that you have isn’t really that important to me. After all, you know that I’m not short of money right now.”
