Suzy’s makeup artist immediately responded, “These were gifts by Lucy. Everyone in the studio has one, each with a different design. Look, mine’s the Notre-Dame cathedral.”

She excitedly showed Suzy her souvenir which she had already tied to her keychain.

Suzy sneered and said, “I can’t believe you’d fall for such foolish gimmicks. I was such a fool to have believed it’d be something valuable! Keychain? Everyone’s already using a fingerprint lock by now, alright? Only outdated fools would still unlock their doors with keys!”

The makeup artist could not mutter another word.

The atmosphere in the dressing room immediately turned awkward.

Leila had already finished her makeup. She quietly got up and made her way to the exit.

Everyone else could only stare at each other as no one dared to utter a single word.

At that moment, Lucy walked back into the room.

“I’m sorry, Sister Allie. I accidentally messed with my makeup, do you mind helping me patch it back?”

Due to limited manpower, everyone else was serviced by the same makeup artists aside from Leila.

The woman who was known by Sister Allie was the makeup artist for both Lucy and Suzy.

Sister Allie answered, “Oh, sure. Please have a seat, I’ll attend to your makeup shortly.”

“Alright.”

Before Lucy could even settle into her seat, Suzy began blabbering condescendingly.

“Sister Allie, I seem to recall that you were specifically arranged to only manage my makeup. Why do you even bother attending to hers?”

Sister Allie answered with unease, “My apologies, Suzy. As there are currently only five makeup artists in the crew, yet ten members needed their makeups done, only Leila will have her own exclusive makeup artist. The rest will be shared among everyone else.”

Suzy widened her eyes in disbelief.

“What did you say? Shared among everyone else?”

Sister Allie nodded helplessly.

“In that case, why haven’t I seen you doing their makeup before?”

“They’ve always arrived early whereas you typically arrived at the latest. By the time you came, their makeup had already been taken care of. So…”

Suzy’s expression had dramatically changed.

As the production was a costume drama, it involved complex costume designs and hefty makeups, a comparably tedious process compared to filming modern dramas.

Every day, the actresses would wake up early just to queue up for the makeup. After all, traditionally oriental hairstyles were so tedious it would take at least an hour to set up.

Moreover, the director of this film, Yuri Lagovsky, was one who could not care less about the status of the actress. Instead, his reputation of fully emphasizing the skills of his cast had made him a renowned director.

Suzy’s position in the cast was merely a result of her bringing in investment and her promising Director Yuri that she would not flaunt her status.

Now that Suzy realized she was the latest to arrive on set every day, she was afraid that Director Yuri would be unimpressed by her behavior.

Suzy’s expression had turned to one of unease and nervousness.

Lucy had noticed Suzy’s reaction. She smiled and told Sister Allie, “It’s alright, Sister Allie. You should attend to her makeup first, I’ll wait aside.”

Sister Allie could only agree. “Alright then.”

Lucy had even put on a friendly smile to Suzy when she finished her conversation.

However, thinking that Lucy was afraid of her, Suzy pulled a face and said, “At least you know your place.”

Lucy then turned around and allowed Sister Allie to attend to her makeup.

Meanwhile, everyone else in the dressing room was staring at her loathingly.

Her newly assigned agent, Susan, was an amateur who had just gotten the role not long ago.

Lucy smiled as she answered the phone, “Sister Susan, how can I help?”

On the other side, Susan was her usual self. She said unenthusiastically, “Are you free this afternoon? There’s an audition available.”

Lucy was taken by surprise and agreed without hesitating, “Sure. However, I’m still shooting Director Yuri’s film at the moment and don’t wish to juggle between films. When will shooting start on their side?”

“It’s still not clear for now. You should give it a try first. If they’re willing to let you pass, we can discuss the timing on a later date.”

Lucy did not have any other concerns.

Once she hung up, Susan immediately texted the audition’s address over.

Lucy immediately noticed that the audition would be held in a hotel room and started to frown with concern.

However, Lucy rationalized to herself that Susan’s recommendation would not be too bad. Hence, she changed into her clothes, bid Director Yuri farewell, and left the studio.

The address that Susan provided was a luxurious hotel.

When she reached, Lucy went to the stated hotel room and pressed on the doorbell.

Soon, she heard a man’s voice from within.

“Come in!”

Lucy pushed the door open and saw an obese middle-aged man sitting on a desk. His chin was covered in layers of fats and a cameraman was standing beside him. Two other women were around the same age as her in the room. They seemed to also be here for the audition.

Lucy breathed a sigh of relief.

She initially hesitated when she found out that the audition would be held in a hotel room.

After all, it was not Lucy’s first day in the industry and she had more or less caught wind of rumors that had involved filthy details. Fortunately, Lucy felt safe seeing that there were others in the room with her.
