Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 364

Old Master Garrett was unusually persistent.

However, he had made it quite clear. At the end of the day, Gideon may suspect him but he knew that the possibility was pretty slim.

Someone of the old master’s status would not go after Nell over a petty manner. The pathetic measure was unlike the doing of the wise old bird.

Hence, Gideon finally gave way after several seconds of stalemate.

Old Master Garrett quickly entered the room.

Nell was in deep sleep due to the anesthetic for stitching work and high fever.

He gazed from afar at the pale little face half-sunk into the pillow. He was heartbroken to see her in such a fragile state.

His eyes reddened.

“Are her wounds okay? Will she get better?”

With a furrow between his brow deepening, Gideon was unable to ascertain Old Master Garrett’s motive behind his reaction.

Still, he answered, “She’s okay for now.”

Old Master Garrett let out a sigh of relief.

Behind him, Aunt Xenia whispered a reminder, “Old Master, Miss Jennings is out of critical condition and Young Master Leith is here as well. She’s going to be okay. What matters most now is your body. Don’t be overly worried.”

Old Master Garrett nodded before turning to Gideon. “Take care of her. I’ll leave her to you.”

Growing skeptical, Gideon asked doubtfully, “Grandpa Garrett, are you sure you’re alright?”

Old Master Garrett waved his arm.

“I’m good. I’ve just been feeling bad toward the kiddo because of that night. I’ve been meaning to visit but since she’s out of danger, I should go. Please take care of her.”

Thereafter, he left with Aunt Xenia’s help.

Watching his receding figure, Gideon furrowed his brows.

Another half an hour later, Nell finally came to.

She was not surprised by Gideon’s presence. She enquired what had happened after she was out and found out that Old Master Garrett had come over. Thinking that he got wind by chance and swung by, Nell paid no notice.

Gideon rasped. “Did you step on anyone’s toes in the shoot lately?”

Nell gave it a thought and shook her head with a frown. “No.”

She paused before lifting her head to stare at the man. “Was it intentional?”

Gideon nodded.

Nell fell silent.

Afraid that she might overthink the situation, Gideon softly consoled her. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it. Your priority is rest and nurturing your body.”

Nell nodded.

She was not worried about the matter with Gideon around. She knew that he would not let her suffer in vain.

Since it was no accident, there must be evidence left behind.

Now that she was awake, Nell ate some food. With her hands immobile, Gideon personally fed her spoon by spoon.

She asked for an update of the Leith Residence. The two elders in the Leith family remained in the dark as the film crew had stopped the news from leaking out and he had not informed the family either. He did not want the two elders to get worked up.

Nell approved of his approach.

Nell was still not in great shape after the meal so Gideon had her take a rest while Nancy came in to be by her side.

She began kicking herself after seeing Nell, who was awake.

Usually, she would follow Nell wherever she went if the latter was not with Gideon.

However, Nancy asked for a day off from Nell because her younger brother had met with some issues. She had not left for long when something like this happened.

Worried that Gideon might blame Nancy, Nell had secretly informed him beforehand.

She also attached a text to the message.

“You’re going to turn your back on me? Don’t even think about it! If I go down, you’re coming down with me!”

On the other side, Jim did not switch his phone off. He had merely blacklisted Celine’s number.

He frowned at the voice recording on his WeChat app.

However, color drained from his face after he found a secluded corner to listen to the recording.

It had never crossed his mind that Celine, that b*tch, would secretly record their conversation on how to deal with Nell that day.

If the old man were to find when the recording was leaked out, he would lose his standing at home.

Jim would probably be chased out of the country and be left with no inheritance, much less retain the current glory and wealth that he had enjoyed.

His face contorted out of shape from anger. After some thought, he felt the recording must never be made public.

Jim returned to his room and canceled Celine’s number from the blacklist. He dialed her number and asked in a gruff voice, “Where are you?”

“What? Uncle, are you finally accepting my call?”

Jim took a deep breath in to suppress the disgust within. “Quit the nonsense! Hand me the recording and I’ll have you sent abroad to save your life.”

“Send me abroad? Why?”

“Do you think there’s still a place for you in the country? It’s your people that did the job. They’ll soon find out that you’re involved! You ought to give me the recording this instant if you know what’s best for you. Of course, I’ll send you away.”

Celine turned blue in the face.

She had never thought that all that effort, getting from Jincheng to the capital and climbing up to this spot, would end this way.

She sharply replied, “No! You send me abroad first and not just me, my mom as well. Once we’re at a safe location, I’ll hand you the recording.”

“You!”
