The corners of Gideon’s lips lifted and his distant eyes were also tinged with a smile.

“Were you waiting for me?”

He walked over and reached out to rub her head.

Nell stiffened slightly, somewhat unaccustomed to such intimate and indulgent actions.

She ducked back slightly and said, “I came out to see the sunset.”

Gideon’s smile deepened.

After changing to slippers, he took her hand and walked inside.
