Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 327

Just then, Mama Lindbloom approached with a box in hand.

“Old Madam, I found it.”

With a smile, she handed the box to the old madam. Nell took a glance and noticed the dark brown sandalwood box was carved in intricate patterns. She could tell it was top quality at first glance.

The old madam opened the box which revealed amber silk. Sitting on top of the silk was a quaint sapphire necklace.

At the twitch of her eyelid, Nell’s face lost color.

This was because the design of this necklace was too familiar. It looked like...

The old madam took out the necklace and lamented. “This was from long ago. I was in my youth when your grandfather happened to get this from an antique dealer. We hadn’t known each other for very long then yet he gave this necklace to me as our engagement present.

“Nelly, you’re a good child. I don’t have anything to give you but this necklace. I hope that you and Deon can be like us, to have a harmonious, beautiful, and peaceful lifetime together.”

With a frown on her face, Nell showed no joy. In fact, she was lost in her thoughts.

Noticing she was out of it, the old madam was surprised and shouted, “Nelly.”

Nell snapped back to reality.

She was in a trance before forcing a smile. “Grandma, what did you say?”

The old madam frowned.

She did not continue the earlier topic as she was concerned about her instead. “Are you all right? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Nell shook her head.

She pursed her lips and hesitated for a moment before replying, “I’m okay. I just remembered something when I saw this necklace.

The old madam was taken by surprise.

“Oh? You’ve seen it before?”

By right, this was impossible. After all, this necklace was given by the old master to her decades ago and she kept it under lock and key ever since. There was no way outsiders had seen it.

Yet, Nell bobbed her head.

She reached out and unfastened the necklace worn around her neck.

“Grandma, take a look at this.”

The necklace in Nell’s hand was quaint and had a similar design to the one old madam had taken out. Only, the sapphire was replaced by a ruby.

The old madam was in shock.

It was not just her but Mama Lindbloom who was beside looking on was dumbstruck as well.

“What-what’s going on...”

Mama Lindbloom’s speech almost turned incoherent. This necklace was a treasure handed down from the previous dynasty. It was one of its kind. How could there be another exact match?

Nell was unaware of the necklace’s origin but by the looks of their reaction, she knew the situation was not as simple.

Having returned to her senses after awhile, the old madam turned sullen and asked, “Where did your necklace come from?”

Without hiding, Nell told her about her mother’s passing and leaving behind the possession.

The old madam was still perplexed at the end of the story.

She frowned for a moment before extending her arm. “Can you let me have a closer look at the necklace?”

Nell nodded.

The old madam carefully examined the necklace once it was in her hands. She looked relieved.

She then picked up the ruby necklace.

Gideon took it for a closer look.

Previously, he was rarely concerned with women’s jewelry. Hence, he never paid close attention.

This time, the result of his examination observed that the condition of this necklace was fairly recent. It was not credible that Cathy had worn it for decades, let alone from the previous dynasty.

He frowned.

Vexed, Nell sighed.

“My mom wouldn’t lie to me. There’s one thing I can’t wrap my head around. What’s the reason behind her leaving me this necklace? Do you think that this necklace has something to do with your grandma’s necklace?”

Gideon threw a glance at her.

The gaze was obscure yet pensive at the same time.

Nell was in the daze by that look, unable to get his intention.

Moments later, Gideon put down the necklace and replied, “I remember that this thing was in the care of Old Madam Jennings. Perhaps she’s in the know.”

Nell was gobsmacked but her complexion soon turned glum.

“Forget it, even if she knows, she won’t tell me.”

Gideon made no response to her reply.

He remained quiet for a while before putting away the two necklaces for her. Gideon faintly answered, “Don’t dwell on it if that’s the case. It’s only a necklace and doesn’t change anything. Just think of it as a coincidence.”

Nell contemplated and felt the same way. Thus, she left him to tidy up.

After a moment of composure, she went downstairs to check on Lizzy and Sunny. Nell settled the two little ones down back in their rooms for sleep before retreating to her room to rest.
