Lucy chuckled. “These events usually last for hours. Next time, you’d better eat first before coming over, in case you get photographed by the paparazzi, and it’ll become a negative piece of news again.”
As she spoke, she pointed at a few reporters who were standing nearby with cameras.
Nell grunted in response, but she was not bothered by them.
Celebrities were also humans. They felt tired and hungry too, so what if they had something to eat.
Back then, when she worked in public relations, she found those nitpicking paparazzi to be annoying. They were capable of making a mountain out of a molehill.
Honestly, some artistes needed to create buzz for themselves to get noticed. However, no celebrity wished to be seen in a negative light by the public.
Yet, she did not care.
After all, for now, acting was her hobby. She liked it now, but that did not mean that she would like it in the future. She decided to take a step at a time and did not give herself any specific goals, so she was indifferent towards such matters.
When she noticed how nonchalant Nell seemed, Lucy laughed. She also understood how she felt and quipped, “I’m about to head over now! Oh, right, Best Actor Remington’s over there. Do you want to say hi to him?”
Chace Remington?
Nell’s eyes sparkled with eagerness.
She looked towards the direction Lucy was pointing at and saw Chace being surrounded by a large group of people. Thus, she shook her head.
“Never mind, I’m not going. You go then!”
“Fine, I’ll be heading there.”
Lucy left and Nell sat down to eat.
She wanted to get to know Chace personally, but there were too many people. Forget it!
She would not know what to say if she met him, so she might as well not do so, in case her expectations towards him were shattered.
Some time passed and she was finally full.
There was a bit of discomfort in her stomach and she had to go to the toilet.
Hence, she headed for the restroom alone.
Gareth was here, too. They attended the event together, but Nell was really tired these days and refused to socialize with others anymore, so he went ahead on his own.
Nevertheless, after socializing and exchanging greetings with multiple people, Gareth noticed that Nell was nowhere to be seen. Instead, there were a lot of empty plates in the area where she had been. He chuckled and shook his head.
In showbiz, networking was extremely crucial. On the surface, the event seemed like a charity night, but many under-the-table dealings were taking place right now!
He wondered how Nell could achieve success with that indifferent attitude of hers.
Then, when he remembered the person who supported her behind her back, a sudden realization dawned on Gareth.
So what if she did not enjoy socializing? With that man to assist her, she could get any benefits she wanted.
Gareth thought of this and decided to leave her be.
In the restroom.
Nell had just exited the restroom when she overheard a few girls talking about Chace.
They were fangirls who managed to get in after their family members pulled some strings, and they were here to meet Chace.
They were not allowed into the hall of the cocktail party, so they had to stay put in the restroom.
Nell laughed out loud.
She knew that the fangirls would be disappointed, as she overheard that Chace had to rush off to somewhere else tonight. Thus, his appearance here was just a brief one and he would leave very soon.
Still, she did not bother about the girls and went back to the hall.
After a while, she felt bored and texted Gareth before she left.
The chauffeur was waiting for her outside.
As Nell walked out, screams erupted around her.
“Chace Remington is here!”
“Chace! I love you!”
“Ah…! It’s Chacey!”
“...”
Old people these days had so much fun!
When the old lady received the photos, she was as ecstatic as a three-year-old.
“Thank you so much, young lady!”
Nell waved a hand. “You’re welcome.”
“You must be a celebrity too, young lady!”
“Eh… Yeah.” She grinned bashfully.
“You’re so beautiful. I wish my granddaughter-in-law was as beautiful as you!”
Nell was amused by her. She chuckled. “Your granddaughter-in-law must be more beautiful than me.”
“Not exactly.” The old lady shook her head. Suddenly, her eyes lit up with fascination. “Young lady, what’s your name? What do you do? Acting? Or singing? I’ll follow your Weibo account.”
Nell was speechless.
Was it so easy for old people to get attached to their idols?
Still, Nell did not want to reject her, so she told her her own name and let her follow her Weibo account.
The old lady smiled happily and said, “Young lady, you’re so kind. You’ll be very famous one day.”
Nell laughed. “Thank you, I hope so.”
After that, the lady shuffled away.
Nell did not linger on. She got into her car and cruised away.
At the same time, a panicky middle-aged man rushed out of the plaza with a trail of bodyguards behind him. He scrutinized the crowd carefully as he searched for his target.
Finally, when he saw the old lady, his expression turned to one of glee and he ran towards her.
“Mom! Where have you been? Did you know we were worried sick!”
“Old Madam, why did you go off on your own? I didn’t see you when I turned around just now. All of us were frightened!”
