Time flew by quickly.
In the twinkling of an eye, a month had passed.
‘Cannon Fodder Guide’ was well-received. It might be a web-series, but it caused a hubbub on the internet. Soon, the show was starting to get noticed by a wider range of audiences.
As the lead actors, Nell and George were busy traveling around and promoting the show.
Gideon saw how busy she was and was worried that she would get fatigued. Thus, he allowed an assistant manager of Nell’s to temporarily handle PR matters at Anning International.
Nell was fine with this arrangement. She was not a superwoman and had only a brain and a pair of arms. She was incapable of managing so many things simultaneously.
Last time, she did not like performing and doing front-facing work, as she felt that she would be stared at by people like some kind of rare animal.
After some time, she slowly got used to this kind of job. In fact, she somewhat enjoyed it.
Almost all of the work at Anning International and at Xinghui were handled by Hannah now.
Gideon did not stop her from entering show business with full force.
Occasionally, late at night, he would command her with envy while lying in bed.
She was not allowed to film kissing scenes, sex scenes, love scenes or even romance scenes with male actors!
Nell was amused by his demands.
Still, she was unable to convince him. If she wanted to bring up the topic of “professional dedication” to him, he would show his “dedication” to her that night.
Later, an unwritten rule began to circulate within the industry.
Some newbie actress’ husband forbade her from filming romance scenes, kissing scenes and love scenes. If she took them on, the entire show must be banned.
Everyone knew who this person was. Earlier, Gideon had publicly announced his relationship with Nell.
Apart from making jokes about this rule, nobody took it seriously.
Nell was bothered by this man’s possessiveness. Then again, it was not like she was hard up for these kinds of scenes. After all, it depended upon the plotline. Such scenes were included only when necessary. If they were unnecessary, it was fine, too.
In addition, in order to support the government’s “Clean Internet Movement”, most romance shows were filmed in a clean and pure manner. Aside from some artistic films, most kissing scenes could be simulated.
The days passed serenely and fruitfully.
In the middle of the year, Gideon brought Nell along to the capital. He also introduced her officially to his family.
Anning International’s headquarters was located in the capital. Xinghui, which was affiliated to Anning, shifted to the capital city as well after some discussion.
Nell was not attached to Jincheng, so she could adapt to life in any city.
Furthermore, the President of the Leiths was based in the capital. Ultimately, Gideon was the boss of the Leiths and it was much more convenient for him to work here. Thus, Nell moved here with him.
Lizzy was the one who was most excited about this arrangement.
Gideon had a home in the capital known as Fengqiao Villa. He bought it specially for Nell.
Every day, Lizzy whined about moving here from Leith Garden, but Gideon would always hush her.
Lizzy did not understand it. She felt sad every time the chauffeur took her home.
Until one day, Gideon said something to her.
“Do you want a little brother? If you want one, go home and after some time, Daddy and Mommy will give you a little brother.”
Lizzy was overjoyed when she heard this.
“Really? I’ll have a little brother?”
She turned around and saw a bunch of fans waving LED boards with her name on them. Although it was a small group overshadowed by other onlookers, she was still pleased to see them.
She waved at them in acknowledgment which resulted in a frenzy among the fangirls.
Ah! What a bunch of cute, little angels. She never expected that she would have a loyal fanbase too.
Nell was unaware that ‘Cannon Fodder Guide’ had dominated most channels and websites in the country within a few months since its initial release.
At the moment, her videos were plastered all over the internet, Weibo, QQ, and WeChat Moments.
There were more than 100 million retweets!
Nell seldom went online, so she did not know that her show had amassed such popularity. It was comforting to her that she had a significant number of supporters.
After walking the red carpet, it was time for the cocktail party.
Aside from celebrities, many socialites and members of the elites attended this party. Nell was hardly interested in such parties, so she sat alone in a corner to have some dessert.
Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice.
“Elder Sister Nelly.”
Nell turned her head and saw Lucy Katz.
“You’re here too?” She got up quickly.
Her gown was a bit untidy due to the way she sat, so she smoothened it and smiled sheepishly. “I was hungry, please excuse me.”
Lucy grinned. “Haven’t you had dinner?”
“Eh…” She had rushed all the way here and did not have anything to eat yet!
