Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 26

“There was yellow snake grass mixed into the drug which has an effect of temporarily paralyzing the vocal cords, but it doesn’t last long. She should be able to speak soon.”

Gideon nodded and let Matthew send the doctor out.

After they left, he went to the bed and looked at the woman lying on it.

Nell was much quieter now as she lay on the bed motionless. It seemed as if she was sleeping.

Only her still-scarlet face inadvertently revealed her pain and endurance.

Gideon watched her for a while wordlessly before walking away.

A few seconds later, the sound of rushing water came from the bathroom.

Nell opened her eyes in a daze when she felt a large, tall shadow hanging over her.

“Let’s go soak in some cold water, hm?”

She looked at him and nodded.

Gideon picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.

The spacious bathtub was already filled with water. When Gideon put her in, the cold water caused her to shiver, and she immediately wrapped her arms around her.

“Can you sit up?”

Nell nodded and tried to say yes, but when the man let go, her entire body went limp and she fell into the water.

A helpless sigh sounded overhead.

The next second, her body was fished up. She coughed twice in pain and spit out a mouthful of water.

Just as she was about to open her eyes, a towel was thrown over her and the water on her face was wiped off with non-gentle movements. She also heard a ‘splash’ following that.

Gideon also stepped into the tub.

He sat right behind her to let her lean on his body and wrapped his arms around her.

Nell’s back instantly stiffened. She felt as if her back was leaning against a volcanic rock. It was extremely hot.

Powerful male pheromones filled her nose, and the heat in her body that had just been pushed down started to stir again.

She could not help but struggle and try to refuse, but an unhappy voice sounded from behind her. “Stop moving!”

Gideon’s expression had already darkened at her rejection from before, so he was already in a bad mood. If it was not for the fear that she would slip into the water and drown herself, he would not have sat in the tub with her either.

After all, Nell was not the only one who was being tortured from this position.

Nell seemed to have thought of this and paled. Then, she sat still and made sure she did not make any other moves.

The surroundings were quiet with the two of them quietly soaking in the water, and because of each other’s body temperature, the originally icy water seemed to be less cold.

Her body was so weak that she could hardly sit upright without Gideon supporting her from behind.

Thinking of the culprit who drugged her again, she wanted to laugh.

She had thought that no matter how vile the Jennings family was, they were simply biased against her and wanted her to give up Jason and help him be together with Celine.

She had no intention of getting involved with Jason any further, so it did not matter if she helped them or not.

However, they were more ruthless than she thought.

In order to let those two get together naturally without being criticized or gossipped about, they actually framed her for having an affair with Isaac Collins!

Not only that, they even drugged her and tried to send her to that scum’s bed!

That was her father! Her grandmother!

If she had not grown up in the Jennings family and spent the first eighteen years of her life happily in that household, she would really start to wonder if she was a biological child of the Jennings!

Roaring anger mingled with endless sadness, surging through her chest.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“I remember telling you before that I’d give you three days to think about it. Now that three days are up, isn’t it time for you to make good on your promise?”

Nell was stunned.

She looked into his deep and dark eyes. They were like glaciers that would never melt for a thousand years, which was a great contrast to his gentle and elegant appearance.

She grew nervous from his stare. It was like something ramming into her, so fierce that she was about to jump out of her throat.

In fact, if she thought about it carefully, this man’s proposal did her no harm.

Although she did not know why he wanted to marry her, it was true that she needed a husband and a marriage.

The reason why she attended Celine’s birthday banquet this time was because Sylvia Walker threatened Nell with her mother’s belongings.

If those things remained in Sylvia’s hands, Nell would never be able to escape her control.

Now, if she got married to Gideon Leith, someone the Jennings could not afford to provoke, then everything would change.

Moreover, although Gideon was an enigma, from what she had seen of him so far, he had no ill will towards her.

She had already been hurt once before and did not feel that she could ever love another man so fearlessly in her life.

So, what difference did it make who she married?

Thinking of this, her nervousness eased a little.

Her gaze when she looked at Gideon grew slightly complex.

“Gideon Leith, are you sure you want to marry me?”

The man raised an eyebrow. “You don’t think I’ve shown enough sincerity?”

Nell pursed her lips. Then, after a struggle in her heart, she finally nodded.

“Alright, I agree.”
