Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 246

The little child was tickled pink, dwelling in her thoughts. Nell was unaware of what was going through the child’s head and could only see a well-behaved child tugging on her heartstrings.

The duo cuddled for a while before letting go. Worried that Lizzy might be hungry, Nell motioned to feed her but was stopped by Gideon’s low voice.

The man put on a stern look on his face. “Don’t spoil her. Let her eat herself.”

Nell was taken aback and snapped back saying that the child was still young.

To her surprise, Lizzy picked up her spoon and scooped a mouthful into her mouth.

With puffed up cheeks, she chewed and answered, “Mommy, I’m a big girl now. I can eat myself so I don’t need people to feed me.”

Nell watched her with a chuckle. As warmth filled her heart, she dabbed lightly on Lizzy’s nose.

“Okay, Lizzy is the best.”

The little kid happily smiled.

Sitting in the opposite, the old madam let out a gratifying giggle at such a wholesome sight.

After lunch, the family retreated to their rooms for a rest.

Nell took Lizzy to her bedroom as the child pestered her for a story.

With the trip happening in a rush, Gideon had to personally take charge of the work that could not be handled by Matthew. Hence, he went back to the room and worked on it.

The old madam was tired and it had always been a habit of hers to take afternoon naps. She excused herself and returned to her room to sleep.

The afternoon was tranquil and fine.

It was not rainbows and sunshine for Celine on the other side though.

She was on the hunt for Nell but the long search came out fruitless. The driver, Fernandez, who was brought off suddenly turned his coat and stuck to his statement that Celine had paid him to transport Nell there.

Fernandez even submitted bank statements of their transaction, indicating that Celine had transferred a large sum to his account prior to the abduction.

It was found through validation that the sum of cash came from Celine’s account.

Without any attempts of concealing the investigation, the police verified the facts and made them public.

The news had stirred an uproar online.

However, there was no response from Celine’s part this time.

A few officers showed up in the Mortons’ residence to take Celine away the same night.

As Celine was high on the suspect list and attention was so focused on her online, many entertainment media kept watch at the doorstep of the Mortons’ residence.

They would not be able to make it from their office in case any news broke out.

It had never occurred to the reporters that they would catch anything newsworthy.

Hot with emotions when officers escorted Celine out of the residence, the reporters flocked ahead to ask questions.

Of course, the law enforcers were not going to give them the chance while they were still on the case.

It did not take long before the reporters were moved out of the way and Celine was escorted to the vehicle.

Nevertheless, the reporters were happy.

After all, they might not have gotten an interview, but the photos and videos alone were enough to gain a huge click rate.

By nightfall, news of the police taking Celine into custody was spread across the online community.

Attached were photographs of her being escorted from the Mortons’ residence. This was ironclad evidence.

Celine’s fans were dumbstruck.

It had never crossed their minds that their gentle fairy-like celebrity would be taken by the police.

Someone raised a question.

With Nell yet to be found, Celine, as the primary suspect, played a crucial role.

Furthermore, she was not able to clear herself from several proofs. Thus, she was not to be let go prior to Nell’s return.

Skylar was thrown into panic.

The issue was the pictures taken when she was detained by the police. If Celine was not freed tonight, talks about this would see a rise and all hell might break loose.

Most importantly, Skylar had no confidence that Celine would be able to hold her tongue under pressure staying in there.

Fret as she may, there was nothing Skylar could do to get through to the strict and impartial cops.

Celine was completely at a loss. She stared at Skylar, afraid that the latter might abandon her here.

She spoke in a trembling voice, “Sister Skylar, you must think of a way to get me out of here. I don’t care how much it takes, I don’t want to stay here.”

Helpless at the situation, Skylar frowned.

“I don’t know what to do. The thing is blown out of proportion and it’s out of my hands now.”

She paused before uttering in a gruff voice, “Didn’t Young Master Morton and Chairman Morton say anything when you were brought out of the Mortons’ residence?”

Celine’s chest tightened.

Jason and Thomas were not at home when she was taken away.

Nevertheless, it had been almost an hour since then. It was impossible that they were oblivious to the situation going on on the internet.

Yet, their presence was still missing.

Skylar continued. “The Mortons have built their empire and are deeply rooted in Jincheng for years. They would’ve some connections. Surely, they’ll be able to figure it out better than us.

“One of them is your husband and the other, your father-in-law. Their names would be tarnished if anything happens to you. I don’t think they’ll just let you be.”
