Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 244

Celine’s pupils dilated from the shock.

“So, you’re saying...”

Skylar scoffed.

“The one thing the public despises the most is the collusion of money and power. So, what if Nell has Gideon at her back? The more Gideon is on her side, the more everybody will think that the wealthy and the influential could very well do as they please.

“People will start to hate her. Do you think that the Leiths are really at the top in the capital without an enemy in sight? Ha! Some forces have been converting that spot at the top.

“With Leith Corporation in the face of criticism, I’m sure the Leiths wouldn’t turn a blind eye. Caught in that crossfire, let’s see if Gideon has his family’s interest or a woman in mind.”

Celine was in shock.

It took a moment before she snapped out of the trance. Her face spelled of delight.

“I get it now! Sister Skylar, so our number one priority is to find Nell?”

“Yes. We must prove that she has never gone missing. This way, everyone will believe that it’s a web of lies she had created!”

Celine nodded.

“Alright, I know what to do. Let me find a way to trace her.”

...

On the other end, Celine was figuring out ways to get her hands on Nell.

On this side, Nell received word on the latest.

After all, she had her suspicion that Celine would be on her tail since the driver, Fernandez, was exposed.

Leith Garden was no place to stay put. Although Celine would not have the guts to barge in, her location here was too apparent. Someone might notice her.

Nell fell deep into ponder, thinking of areas that made a good hiding place when Old Madam Quinton’s call came in.

“What are you doing, Nelly? How are you feeling?”

Old Madam Quinton dialed Gideon’s number and had Nell come to the phone.

Afraid that the old lady and child might be worried, Gideon had told them the matter in advance.

Nell answered, “I’m okay and at home. How about you? Have you been doing well?”

“Everything’s good. Lizzy misses you though. She has been asking for you. Why don’t I bring her over to stay for a day or two when you’re free?”

“This...”

Nell was in a fix.

These were troubled times. As she was in progress pushing Celine’s family to admit the crime they had committed against her mother, it was not the time for her to make an appearance.

Nevertheless, this was Lizzy...

Observing her dilemma, Old Madam Quinton immediately replied, “I just bought an island in the south. The scenery will blow your mind. I even got someone to open a hotel there. The chef used to overlook state banquets and has quite the culinary skills. Why don’t we take a holiday on the island when you have the time?”

Nell would have learned nothing in her years of living if she still did not grasp the meaning behind it.

She responded, “Okay, I’m good with that. You can fix the time.”

“If that’s the case, let’s do it tomorrow. I’ll get Gideon to send you over.”

“Alright.”

After setting the date, the old madam hung up the call.

On the side, Gideon looked at her with expectant eyes. When the call ended, he asked, “Did you say yes?”

Nell nodded. “Yes, the old madam said we’ll go tomorrow.”

“Oh.”

The glint in the man’s eyes did not reveal his thoughts.

Curious, Nell enquired, “The old madam said she bought an island in the south? The island must cost a lot, right? Is the old madam planning to advance into tourism?”

Gideon waved his arm without care.

The old master was not always in the best of health. Hence, he did not join them on this trip.

Nonetheless, Old Madam Quinton was quite chatty. Despite being in her golden age between sixty to seventy, she still was young at heart and would not hold back in showing contempt toward evil.

Upon finding out that Nell was bullied, she could not contain the righteous indignation within and yammered about sticking up for her.

The old lady’s adorable reaction saw Nell smiling. Nevertheless, she knew that the old madam thought of her as a family and was concerned about her. Hence, Nell was touched beyond words.

“Grandma, don’t get involved in this. Nelly has her plans.”

Unable to endure such sight, Gideon spoke up.

The old madam rolled her eyes at him.

“Oh, the nerve! You can’t even protect your wife. What kind of husband are you? Does your wife need to do everything herself at this point in time? Where’s your brain after all those years of growing?”

The old lady was blunt in clapping back at her grandson.

As Gideon turned blue in the face, Nell quickly offered an explanation.

“Grandma, it’s not that he won’t help me, but I won’t let him help me.”

She then went on about the animosity between her and Celine as well as the cause of death of her mother, Cathy Morrison.

This included how she was driven out of the Jennings’ residence five years ago and how the mother and daughter combo had seized all the inheritance. She even hit a wall one too many times when she tried to retrieve her mother’s belongings.

The old madam was boiling by the time Nell was finished with the recount.

“How outrageous! Does the law still exist in this world? This mother and daughter pair sure are shameless. Why don’t lightning just strike them?”

Nell faintly sneered.

“Not even the best judge can settle domestic disputes. No one can be faulted except I was too young five years ago. It didn’t register in my head then. If I played a little smarter, I would’ve noticed long ago that there was something fishy about my mother’s death. I wouldn’t have to face such a huge ordeal now.”

With the old lady’s heart going out for Nell, she patted her arm in an act of comfort.

Struck by a thought, she asked out of curiosity, “Did your mother only leave you a necklace prior to her passing?”
