Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 142

In spite of that, Aunt Joyce kept those thoughts to herself upon meeting Old Madam’s penetrating glare.

Gideon returned not long after.

He had received Nell’s message but did not think much about it. He figured she had a friend over for a short stay.

It was not in his interest to find out who the other party was.

However, he was completely stunned the minute he stepped through the door.

Over in the living room, the old lady and Lizzy were sitting on the couch since it was not bedtime yet. Nell was taking her shower thus the old lady kept Lizzy entertained by playing Cat’s Cradle.

Aunt Joyce was watching by the side with a smile on her face. The television was playing Lizzy’s favorite cartoon. The entire scene was pleasant and sweet.

“What are you…”

“Ah, this must be Miss Jennings’ husband! You’re too good-looking!”

The old lady suddenly rose from the couch and beamed joyfully at Gideon.

“????”

Gideon was baffled.

The corners of Aunt Joyce’s lips twitched. She stepped forward to receive Gideon’s outercoat immediately.

“You’re home, Sir.”

Gideon inhaled deeply to recover from this great surprise.

He was about to say something when Nell’s voice came from the stairs.

“Gideon, you’re home?”

She had just come out from the shower and was dressed in her nightgown. A towel was still wrapped around her damp hair as she shuffled down the stairs.

“Well, this is Lizzy, and this is Lizzy’s great-grandmother, Old Madam Quinton. They’re my new friends. Is it okay for them to stay the night?”

Nell was actually quite worried that Gideon would say no.

After all, despite the man’s gentle appearance, he could be quite difficult to deal with sometimes.

Especially when it concerned the house. She noticed he did not like it when there were strangers around.

For instance, in the past, Gideon had not been delighted about Janet’s visit.

Gideon took another deep inhalation.

He glanced over at the old lady whose grin never faded away. However, anyone familiar with her could discern the warning and sternness that were hiding deep beneath those old but sharp eyes.

He turned sideways to look at the little one sitting on the couch.

The little one looked like an expensive, fragile porcelain doll with her delicate fair skin and glistening eyes. She blinked at him expectantly.

There was no hint of guilt on her face at all.

His face changed as a whole range of emotions flashed across it.

Upon sensing the man’s silence, Nell thought he was upset with the arrangement but was being considerate by not bringing it up in front of the guests.

Therefore, she shuffled across the room to tug softly at the corner of his sleeve.

She kept her voice down. “They’re in a pitiable condition. Their family didn’t take care of them and the old lady lost her wallet while traveling. It’s really inconvenient for these two to stay out without a penny…”

Gideon laughed in a cold manner.

He tilted his head to look at Nell. “Pitiable? Family didn’t take care of them?”

Nell nodded frantically.

Gideon tried hard to suppress his displeasure.

“Very well, they can stay if they wish so badly! Come with me.”

He headed for the stairs after that.

Nell rubbed her temples upon seeing the man’s darkened face. His figure disappeared into the second floor within seconds.

“Miss Jennings, I hope we’re not intruding?”

The old lady questioned awkwardly.

Nell attempted a smile.

“Not at all, that’s just how he is. He looks tough on the outside but is actually a big softie. Don’t overthink it.”

She inched forward to plant a quick peck on his lips.

A massive palm pushed her closer just when she was about to pull away. The man leaned in to intensify the kiss.

Nell opened her eyes when they were finished, breathless.

The man’s extremely handsome face entered her sight. An immense passion was burning beneath his deep-set eyes.

“Only half a month left.”

Nell appeared surprised but quickly bit her lips when she understood what he meant.

Gideon’s eyes twinkled and he swallowed the desire burning within him. “You gave me your word. There’s no turning back now,” he said in a low voice.

Nell nodded gently.

Half an hour later, Nell left her bedroom and headed to the guest room downstairs.

Lizzy had already taken her shower with the servant’s assistance. She was resting with her back against the bed frame, waiting for Nell to come read her a bedtime story.

Nell stepped into the room to find the little dumpling dressed in pink, fuzzy pajamas. She had no idea where the servant found those but it looked adorable on the girl.

It made a huge contrast against the little dumpling’s snow-like skin, making her look even more like a porcelain doll. She appeared fair and tender from head to toe.

“Aunt Nelly, you’re here!”

The little dumpling addressed Nell differently depending on her mood.

Nell stopped trying to correct the little dumpling since learning about her mother. She grinned and positioned herself on the bed.

“Here I am. Which story would you like to listen to tonight, Lizzy?”

“The Snow Queen.”

“Again!”

Nell figured the little dumpling must really enjoy The Snow Queen. She had requested for this story the last time as well.

Learning from experience, she went online to read up on the story. She was able to tell it more completely this time around.

The little dumpling, who had nestled in her arms as she listened quietly, drifted off to sleep not long after.
