The delivery guy turned around. “Are you Mr. Wallace?”

Cameron Hodded. “Yeah, that’s me.”

He asked again to confirm, “What’s your phone number?”

She told him her phone number,

Cameron was even more confused. “I didn’t order anything.”

The guy replied, “It’s from a Mr. Murphy.”

Cameron was confused. She wondered, ‘Mr. Murphy… Xander? He sent me food? How did he know I came back here?”

Before she could argue, he stuffed the bag into her hands. “Don’t forget to leave a good review, Mr. Wallace.” Then he hurried off–he had more deliveries to make.

Cameron looked down at the bag, then at the empty hallway, and went inside.

She placed the bag on the table, opened it, and saw the food Xander had ordered–a milkshake, a chocolate cake, and a fruit salad.

Cameron was stunned. Since when was Xander this good at picking things? This was exactly what she loved–how could she say no? But she didn’t touch

He fought to keep his excitement in check and messaged Cameron: [Yeah, I sent it. You like it?] It had taken Xander ages to research online what small gifts girls were more likely to accept.

Xander: [It’s no big deal. Why pay me back? It’s my treat.]

Cameron: [Why would you treat me? What’s the catch?]

Xander was at a loss for words. He thought, ‘What’s the catch? Can’t she see I liked her?‘
