She Accepted Divorce He Panicked (Scarlett and Sebastian) novel Chapter 253

“I told you, I’m not after your money nor your company,” Scar says calmly, dropping the card on the table.

“Then what are you after? Why are you here with a card to help me from going bankrupt?” Letting the card bouncing off the table, Sebastian grabs her wrist instead before she could pull back. He leans in so close that she could smell his cologne, his head bent lower to nail her eyes as his whisper stiffens her body: “...why do you care at all…Mrs…Knight?”

“I’m not--!” Scar tries to swing his hand off, only to stop in the middle of her outburst, glaring at him like a puffed balloonfish.

Sebastian curves his lips.

“You are not Mrs. Knight? I know.”

Scar won’t answer.

“You hate me, don’t you?” Sebastian announces. The pain in his voice hidden well. “You hate me so much that you don’t want anything to do with me, even if I’m handing you my everything. Why won’t you say it out loud?”

Scar lowers her eyelids to prevent the man from seeing through her, but he continues--

“The Scar I knew would never talk to me again after what happened five years ago. She would come back and smash her handbag in my face. She would claw me and bite me before spatting on my dead body and leaves like the queen she was,” Sebastian lets out a light laugh as if mocking the image he paints, “But you are not doing any of that. You talks to me. You hugged me and even kissed me once...”

Scar’s heart skips a beat. In desperation, she closes her eyes. The man knows her too well. He saw through her.

“It’s all part of your revenge against Ava, isn’t it? She loves me, and that’s why you try to keep peace with me. You want me to give her the final blow when the time comes, because you think that would hurt her the most. Is that not your plan?”

Scar snorts lightly, her voice cold enough to freeze air. With a blunt swing, she snaps her wrist out of the man’s grab.

Her words are like little knives, cutting small but deep wounds on his heart. He gazes at the woman who was once the best person he has ever known saying the cruelest words in the world.

He does care, and it did hurt him.

Scar’s most cruel gift to him -- telling him about how he protected the wrong girl against the very person he swore to protect all these years after she put herself behind bars. Never did a day pass without pain in these past five years. Every day he closed his eyes, he remembered all the nights he spent with Scar. The nights where she would gaze at him with her eyes sparkling of love. The nights where she would come and cuddle him from behind, begging for a little warmth that he never gave her.

He had his happiness, so close and tightly in his palm, and Ava ruined every bit of it.

He wanted so much to tear Ava apart for what she did. He married her not to honor his words, but to repay what she did to Scar, only to feel how pathetic and cruel he was. He would have put Ava behind bars for a million years if he could, but he can’t--

Because Ava wasn’t the person who broke into their house five years ago.
