Lizetta looked back at him, shooting him an exasperated glare.
"If you want to smile, just smile! Why are you trying to hold it in?"
Remington didn't say a word.
Was he really being that obvious?
He turned back to Nelson. "Grandpa, thank you."
Nelson scoffed, a knowing, calculating smile spreading across his face.
The moment Remington had insisted that Nelson name the child, the old man knew exactly what he was scheming.
If the Dashiell family chose the name, how could they justify demanding the child take their surname?
By handing the honor over to the Madden family, Remington showed immense respect while subtly forcing Nelson to wrestle with the surname dilemma himself.
And Remington was perfectly aware of the guilt and obligations weighing on Nelson's conscience.
He had weaponized his kindness, banking on the fact that Nelson would compromise in return.
The kid had probably calculated from the very beginning that Nelson would let Joy take the Dashiell name.
Looking at Remington's face—clearly triumphant but desperately trying not to show it—Nelson truly felt the urge to kick him across the room.
He snorted, biting his tongue for a moment before finally snapping.
"The next baby, whether it's a boy or a girl, takes the mother's surname!"
How could Remington possibly say no to that?
By saying that, Nelson was not only giving them his blessing to remarry, but he was actively encouraging them to have a second child!
Whether or not they actually had another baby was a bridge to cross later. What mattered right now was the old man's absolute approval.
Remington nodded without missing a beat.
"Of course, Grandpa."
Nelson then turned to Lizetta. "Liz, your next pregnancy better be twins."
"Aren't you going to check on Kimberley?"
Jerome glanced at her. "I didn't come here to see her. I came because Grandpa and Grandma..."
Lizetta didn't even let him finish before laughing and cutting him off. "I don't believe a word you're saying. Jerome, having feelings for a woman isn't a crime. You don't have to hide it like this."
Jerome didn't know what to say.
The problem was, he genuinely didn't feel like he was at the 'having feelings' stage yet.
But facing Lizetta's intense *'Can you please just spit it out, you're driving me insane with this secrecy'* stare, he stopped fighting it.
"What room is she in? I couldn't find her medical records."
Lizetta immediately burst into giggles, covering her mouth as she practically danced in place. "Jerome, if you don't have feelings for her, why are you trying to track down her room number?"
Jerome pressed his lips together. He truly had zero experience when it came to chasing women.
More importantly, Lizetta had mentioned there was another man circling her, bringing her fresh flowers every single day.
