Cedric remained entirely speechless.
Was he invisible?
Although the boss and his wife had reconciled, and the boss had been in an exceptionally good mood these past few days, treating his subordinates with unprecedented warmth...
Being subjected to their constant public displays of affection was absolute torture, especially since he didn't even have a girlfriend.
Cedric felt like he had the hardest job in the world.
When the boss and his wife finally renewed their vows and threw a wedding, it would be a crime if they didn't make him a groomsman.
"Cedric?"
Cedric was snapped back to reality by the slight elevation in Remington's voice.
He hurriedly looked over at his boss lounging on the sofa, and only then did he notice a very distinct, deep bite mark on Remington's neck.
The skin was broken, leaving no doubt as to who the masterpiece belonged to.
This was just...
The boss really spoiled his wife rotten.
"Cedric!"
Remington's voice deepened, and Cedric hastily lifted his gaze, meeting the man's somber eyes. He suddenly realized he had spaced out twice right under his boss's nose.
He hadn't heard a single word of why his boss had called him.
He was doomed!
Cedric instinctively shot a desperate plea for help toward Lizetta. Her expression was gentle and amused as she stepped in to save him.
"Cedric, you've been working so hard these past few days. With Remington stuck here, you've had to run back and forth between the company and the hospital. Did you not get enough sleep last night?"
Lizetta then turned to Remington and added,
"Honey, once this busy period is over, you should give Cedric a proper vacation."
Remington didn't buy the lack-of-sleep excuse for a second.
Cedric was a champion sleeper; the man could pass out anywhere the moment his head hit a pillow.
