Stella secretly let out a sigh of relief when she heard Remington say he'd pass on the villa. But the moment he mentioned buying an island for Liz, her face contorted with jealousy.
Liz hugged Remington's arm and beamed brightly. "Really? Then I want to build a castle on the island! Oh, right, I was planning to post the hospital video online today to raise awareness about nanny abuse. The edit isn't quite finished yet, I should go work on it..."
As Liz leaned affectionately against Remington with a radiant smile, the faces of both Mr. and Ms. West immediately fell.
Stella broke her composure and snapped, "Liz, how can you post that video online? Ron is still so small, and he's already suffered enough. No matter how much you misunderstand us or hate Ron, you can't let him be scrutinized by everyone on the internet. How is he supposed to hold his head high when he grows up?"
If the video went viral, the West family's reputation would be completely destroyed, turning them into the laughingstock of Zion City. The young master of the prestigious West family, subjected to long-term abuse by a mere nanny? The family couldn't afford such a scandal.
Liz burst into laughter. "Stella West, you're hilarious. You keep claiming I hate Ron. If I hated him, would I have exposed your nanny's abuse? I think the one who truly hates Ron is someone else entirely."
Stella wanted to argue back, but Martin grabbed her arm. He had always thought Liz was just an ordinary girl with no background and a soft personality that was easy to manipulate. He hadn't expected her to be so sharp-tongued and difficult to deal with.
Martin knew that arguing further tonight would yield no benefits. If they actually angered Liz and pushed her to release the video or speak to the media, the West family would lose all its dignity.
He glanced at Stella and ordered, "Stella, you've definitely misunderstood Lizetta. She saved your nephew, and we are here to thank her. Apologize to her."
Stella was seething with rage. Today she had been slapped, locked up in the police station, and dragged out here in the middle of the night by Martin while she was dizzy and exhausted. From the moment she walked through the door, she had gained absolutely nothing. Did she come here tonight just to offer herself up for humiliation?
But under Martin's imposing stare, Stella had no choice but to look at Liz, her eyes red, and force out the words: "I'm sorry, Liz. I was just too emotional."
