Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1015

Liz had to give Martin some credit for his remarkable patience. Remington was being incredibly rude, yet the old man didn't even flinch. It was almost impressive.

"Alright," Remington said nonchalantly. "Then give us the lakefront villa at Zenith Manor as your token of gratitude."

Before Martin could even react, Stella blurted out in a panic, "No! That's impossible!"

That lakefront villa at Zenith Manor belonged to her. When she returned to the West family, Martin outwardly spoiled her, but in reality, he rarely gave her anything of substance. She only had the right to wear the jewelry he bought; whether it would truly belong to her in the end was anyone's guess. That villa was the single piece of real estate officially under her name. She had begged for a long time before Martin, likely deciding she needed some fixed assets to keep up appearances, finally gave it to her.

After getting the villa, Stella had hired designers to completely renovate the interior and redesign the gardens. She had poured her heart and soul into every inch of it. How could it be given away to Remington as a reward?

However, as soon as Stella finished speaking, Martin glared at her with a heavy frown. "Stella! I know you love that villa, but compared to Ron, it's nothing. Besides, giving it to Remington isn't like giving it to an outsider. Won't you be able to visit whenever you like in the future?"

Martin's eyes carried a hidden warning. The eldest daughter of the West family shouldn't act so petty.

Stella's nails dug into her palms. She didn't dare argue. Masking her heartache, she nodded and forced a smile. "You're right, Dad."

Liz easily caught the implication: Martin was hinting that Stella and Remington were bound to get married eventually, so it didn't matter whose name the property was under. Disgusted by the notion, Liz opened her mouth to retort, but Remington beat her to it.

Even Martin's expression stiffened briefly. But things had already reached this point; refusing now would be meaningless and make him look unreasonable. Swallowing his bitter resentment, he said, "Since Lizetta has left the Dashiell family and is divorced, if she doesn't have a place to settle down in Zion City... as an elder who watched her grow up, it's only right that I gift her a villa."

Liz let out a cold laugh. "Please, don't. A moment ago, this was the reward for saving your young master. Now you're spinning it like it's an act of charity because you pity me? If you don't want to hand over the reward, just say so. There's really no need for these theatrics."

Did he think she couldn't hear his underlying jab? The old bastard was reminding her of her divorce, mocking her for being penniless with nowhere to live, and essentially telling her to take the house and get out of Oakridge Heights. What colossal nerve!

Remington chuckled softly, pulling Liz closer. "Darling, suddenly I feel like the villa at Zenith Manor is just mediocre. Let's forget it. There's a private island going up for auction in a few days. We can go check it out, and if you like it, I'll buy it for you."
