Manny’s voice came from behind her.
Misty turned around and immediately stepped aside respectfully, greeting him sweetly, “Mr. Longbottom.”
“Mm.”
Manny nodded, satisfied that Misty was still respectful to him.
Ever since Laurence was announced as the new CEO of the company, everyone changed the way they called Manny. Although he was now the COO, he still hated hearing people call him by his name.
“Is the CEO off work?”
Manny looked at the company gates just in time to see the last of Laurence’s motorcade disappearing into the distance.
“Yes. He instructed me to cancel all of his evening appointments.”
“All of them?”
Manny frowned. “He should have engagements tonight. How can he cancel everything? Is he not taking the company business seriously?”
Misty did not dare to respond.
After grumbling for a while, Manny asked, “How did the clients react when you canceled those appointments?”
“They all said they understood. They said Mr. Laurence had just taken over Longbottom Corporation and needed time to settle in, so they understood if he didn’t have time to entertain them for now. Waiting another day or two isn’t a problem.”
Manny cursed inwardly. ‘What’s wrong with these clients? Why are they all so understanding toward Laurence?’
In the past, whenever Manny had to reschedule a client meeting, he had to personally apologize and offer thorough explanations with a smile, afraid that they might think he was disrespecting them.
However, when it came to Laurence, he did not even have to speak to them himself. He just let Misty cancel the appointments on his behalf, and the clients simply expressed their understanding.
The double standard was glaring.
