"I just adore Noelle and want to dote on her, but Noelle dotes on you too."
Jane continued, "Noelle values you more than her own life. Since she already cares for you so deeply, the rest of us should care for her more.
"Listen closely, Laurence. Don't give Noelle too much work from now on. Don't tire her out.
"If it's something you can handle yourself, do it. If you can't, leave it to someone else. Let Noelle have some free time to rest and enjoy her life. She's been by your side for so many years without ever getting the chance to enjoy herself."
Although Noelle always enjoyed an excellent standard of living, she was constantly busy. She followed Laurence everywhere, protecting him and never leaving his side. Having money meant little when she barely had time to spend it. In Jane's eyes, that meant Noelle had not truly enjoyed the good life.
"You should also rotate the bodyguards closest to you. Noelle should just focus on being your wife. You can entrust the major affairs of the Longbottom household to her. As for the minor affairs, those are what the family elders and butlers are for. Let them take care of those things."
Noelle hurriedly replied, "Mom, I'm not tired. I don't do much most of the time. I just stay by Mr. Laurence's side."
In fact, she delegated many tasks to the people under her. She was the steward of the estate, after all.
"Noelle, I'm not trying to nag you, but you really need to change the way you address Laurence. Stop calling him 'Mr. Laurence' all the time. He's never treated you like a servant, so don't think of yourself as one.
"You're equals. Even after you get married, don't take on every single household chore yourself because you assume he's tired from work. You have a job too, and you get tired as well. Discuss things and make decisions together. A husband and wife are a team."
Noelle smiled sheepishly. "I'm used to calling him that. I can't change it overnight."
"That's why I'm telling you to change now. If you don't, how awkward will it be when you suddenly call him 'Mr. Laurence' in private? It'll ruin the mood."
