Even though they were merely acting heads, everyone still feared them back when the Longbottom family was the wealthiest in the city.

The only force capable of curbing the Longbottom family’s arrogance was the rise of Longtail Group. Since Longtail Group operated in the same industries as Longbottom Corporation, these two were destined to be arch-enemies.

However, in the beginning, Longbottom Corporation did not take Longtail Group seriously. One could even say they did not even know of Longtail Group.

By the time they finally took note of Longtail Group and started retaliating, it was too late because it had already grown big enough to steal quite a fair bit of their business and had established partnerships with many large companies.

Laurence Young and his right-hand man, Sonny Brown, had become business associates with numerous business tycoons in Havenmill. Whenever Manny targeted Laurence, he was often advised against it by business executives they both knew.

They would say that since everyone was doing business in Havenmill, and they would run into each other constantly, there was no need to be so ruthless and try to drive Longtail Group out of the market.

Manny was furious.

It was Longtail Group that was not showing them any courtesy. How much of their business and how many of their customers had Longtail stolen? And was it not precisely the businesspeople they both knew that had been lured over to Laurence’s side?

Now, they were siding with Laurence, without even considering how much the Longbottom family had lost.

Manny had never been able to quite measure up to his father. With his father giving him pointers behind the scenes, he was still able to maintain his seat as the acting head of the family.

The rise of Longtail Group, however, had caught them both at a loss for what to do. Longtail Group neatly thwarted the same methods they had used on other companies in the past.

What made them fear the most was Laurence’s and Sonny’s origins because they simply could not trace them.
