Such was the advantage of having many cousins and brothers who were close-knit.
“I’ll be waiting.”
“Okay.”
Peter hung up the call and told River, “Dylan made supper and he’s treating us. Let’s go to his place. Maybe he was in a good mood. Free supper for us.”
Callum, Dylan, and River were Martin and Rosella’s sons. They were biological brothers.
Before River entered the car, he smiled and said, “Dylan returned to the manor and met Nana today. Maybe he was in the mood to cook and invited us over because Nana gave up on arranging his marriage.”
Peter knew more than River did.
After all, he was the closest to Dylan due to their similar ages.
Dylan and Peter were five years apart. Although he adored his younger brother, he was still closer to Peter.
Peter simply smiled and did not comment much. “Anyway, let’s head over for supper. We’re hungry too.”
“Thanks for today, Peter.”
“Don’t sweat it. Let's go. You go ahead and I’ll follow your car from behind.”
Peter was erring to the side of caution. Although the York lads had obtained their driving licenses when they came of age, River was still an amateur driver compared to the experienced Peter.
River drove out of the company building and Peter followed suit.
Ten minutes later, they arrived at Dylan’s villa.
River honked.
Soon, Beckham came out and opened the gates. “Why did Mr. Dylan lock the gates when he invited them over for supper?”
Well, Dylan had changed his mind at the last minute after entering the house and seeing the pie he had baked. He called River and Peter over because he did not want his effort wasted.
Beckham guided them toward the main house.
As River walked, he asked, “What did my brother make, Beckham? Why can’t I smell anything?”
He had a keen sense of smell, so everyone often said he had the nose of a dog.
After walking several steps, River added, “I smell balsamic vinegar and potatoes. There’s also the smell of pie. Dylan must’ve made salad.
Peter could not smell it. He laughed and said, “We just got to the door, but you can already smell everything.”
Beckham simply smiled. He did not reveal what Dylan had cooked.
He dared not tell the truth.
Mr. Dylan only invited Mr. River and Mr. Peter over for supper because the lady in red had left. Mr. Dylan had made a simple chicken pie for the lady because she said she wanted something light.
