Caroline stopped and wound down her car window to poke her head out and asked, “Have you prepared the gifts for Sonny and Mr. Lewis?”
Darren smiled. “Are you still not assured about my ability to get things done? They’re ready. Are you driving there yourself?”
“Is there a problem with that?”
Darren replied, “If you drink alcohol, you won’t be able to drive back. I’d better drive you. That way, you can drink as much as you want.”
“I won’t be drinking. I had too much to drink last night and I don’t think Liberty’s drinking either. Sonny’s still a kid, and Mr. Lewis is still recovering. Liberty definitely won’t let him drink.”
Darren could not say anything to that.
He got into his car and followed after her once her car passed his.
Half an hour later, they arrived at Fortress Hotel.
Liberty was waiting with Sonny in the lobby for Caroline’s arrival.
Duncan did not come downstairs because it was inconvenient.
Caroline did not know Liberty was already waiting for her. After she parked, she waited for Darren to park before walking over to his car and opening the door to the back seat to see it filled with the gifts prepared.
For Duncan, there were cigars, good liquor, and nutritional delicacies.
For Sonny, there were toys and new clothes, which might be a little oversized.
Darren did not know what size Sonny wore and told the store employees to pick clothes fitting a four-year-old kid.
He decided to buy a size larger because if they were loose, Sonny could still grow into them and wear them for longer.
If he bought a size too small and Sonny could not wear them, it would be troublesome to return them.
Oh well, this was his first time buying clothes for a kid.
Just like how Duncan had no experience dealing with children in the past and kept giving Sonny pinwheels. No matter how much Sonny liked them, he grew tired of it eventually.
It was his first time seeing real snow, being someone from the south.
They probably were not going to stay in the hotel then. Liberty probably wrapped him in so many layers because she was going to take him out to play. It was warm in the hotel and he would not need so many layers.
“Liberty.” Caroline greeted smilingly.
Her gaze turned to Sonny. She had met him before but Sonny did not have much of an impression of her and did not know she was Liberty’s aunt.
“Sonny, do you still remember me?”
Caroline squatted down to touch Sonny’s face.
Sonny’s large eyes sparkled as he looked at Caroline for a moment before shaking his head honestly. “Nope. Are you my aunt? I have an aunt.”
Caroline laughed. “I know you have an aunt. I’m your grandaunt. Don’t you want more aunts?”
