Alicia clung tightly to Tyrone, refusing to let go.
“Hey now,” Tyrone murmured, gently ruffling her hair. “I promised I’d come and stay with you for a while, but I can’t stay here for too long.”
Alicia nodded, her voice muffled. “I know you’re still alive…”
Tyrone took her hand and led her over to the couch, pulling her into his arms. “I just want to be here for you during the pregnancy.”
He couldn’t just shirk his responsibilities as a father, leaving Alicia to face everything alone. The very least he could offer was his presence.
“But what if someone finds out?” Alicia’s voice was hoarse as she rested her head on his shoulder. “If they do, everything you’ve planned could fall apart…”
“They won’t,” Tyrone replied, raising an eyebrow. “Right now, the person behind all this has their sights set on the White family.” For the moment, the real danger lay with Clayton and Easton.
The whole point of faking his death was to finally wash his hands of it all.
If he stayed alive, he’d always be a target. Only by “dying” could he draw their attention elsewhere.
Truth be told, Tyrone was cunning—maybe even a little ruthless.
But what choice did he have? His wife was pregnant, and she needed him.
“Easton’s still young,” Alicia sighed. “I just hope he can resist temptation and not get played.”
“If he can’t handle this kind of scheme, how’s he supposed to take over Lynch Corporation one day?” Tyrone’s tone was calm, but Alicia could feel the weariness and sadness beneath his words.
At least Easton still had an older brother watching his back, warning him, shielding him.
Tyrone, back in his day, had fought his way up alone.
Their enemies always loved using seduction—the cheapest, most effective weapon in their arsenal. They’d tried it on Tyrone once, too, but he’d seen right through it.
“Something’s off about Shaw,” Alicia said suddenly, her eyes searching Tyrone’s face.
“I know. But we can’t tip our hand,” he replied. “If we want to deal with Shaw, we’ll have to make our move through Easton.”
Alicia understood. If she could see the problem, there was no way Tyrone hadn’t already made arrangements.
