If everything went according to Tyrone’s plan and he managed to cheat death, he’d simply fake it—lying low and waiting for the right moment. But if he failed to escape his pursuers, then that would really be the end of him.
Alicia dug her nails into her palm, forcing herself to stay calm.
“Can’t we… buy a little more time? Maybe we’ll come up with something,” she whispered.
“The White family and the Lynch family have been looking into this for years and haven’t found a single lead. Even though all the evidence points to the Edwards family, we still have nothing solid on them…” Tyrone stepped closer, pulling Alicia into his arms. “Alicia, stalling won’t help anymore. We’re out of time.”
“As long as all my money is tied up in projects and Vincent freezes it for now, you and the baby will be safe…” Alicia would only be truly safe if she couldn’t touch a single penny.
Tyrone had already made arrangements with Felix and the Evercrest Group. Of course, he’d never let Alicia suffer or go without.
“I don’t care about the money…” Alicia shook her head.
All she wanted was for Tyrone to survive. To be alive and safe.
“Don’t be afraid, Alicia. I’ll take care of myself,” Tyrone murmured softly.
Vincent watched, sympathy flickering in his eyes. He wanted to comfort Alicia, but he no longer had the right.
He gave a bitter smile, cursing himself for being a fool. When he’d had the chance, he hadn’t treasured it. Now, Alicia’s entire world revolved around another man, and all Vincent could do was seethe with jealousy.
“Alicia, trust Tyrone. And… please, trust me one more time,” Vincent said, his voice a little hoarse.
Alicia nodded, saying nothing.
She knew Tyrone and Vincent must have struck some kind of deal.
“Don’t worry. Wire the project funds to my offshore account first. If something happens to you, I’ll freeze the money under my own name. That way, Stephen and whoever’s behind him won’t be able to touch it. Once you’re… back safe and everything’s settled, every cent will be returned to you.” Vincent wanted Tyrone to know he could trust him.
…
Lawson & Co.
Vincent now held the majority shares and control of Lawson & Co. Stephen, desperate for Tyrone’s inheritance, had made some serious sacrifices to get here.
At the executive meeting, Stephen’s face was thunderous as he glared at Vincent. “Now that you’ve got the shares and management, go find Tyrone and have him sign the contract. Transfer the project funds!”
Vincent looked at Stephen, calm and even a little amused.
With all the power in his hands, Stephen didn’t dare act tough anymore. That was fine… there was plenty of time to settle the score.
He’d let Stephen stew.
