Tyrone squeezed Alicia’s fingers, his voice low. “Brandon is ruthless and ambitious. He poisoned Reginald, thinking he could get rid of the old man right after he announced Nicole as his heir.”
Alicia stared at him, shocked, a chill running down her spine.
Reginald was Brandon’s own father. Unbelievable. How could he be so cold-blooded?
“Nicole… she’s a fake, isn’t she?” Alicia whispered.
Tyrone nodded.
A knock came at the door. “Dad, the reporters are here and guests are starting to arrive.” Brandon’s voice drifted in from the hallway.
Alicia’s grip on Tyrone’s hand tightened.
The old man stood, straightening his suit before heading out.
The real show was about to begin.
Brandon stood by the door, ready to escort his father out. He shot a triumphant look back at Tyrone and Alicia, as if victory was already his.
Tyrone rose, taking Alicia’s hand. “Come on. Let’s enjoy the spectacle.”
Alicia nodded, confident that there was no way the old man would let Brandon get away with it today.
They had barely taken two steps when Nicole burst in, flanked by Jade and Mina. “Well, well, look who showed up at my birthday party. Don’t you two have any shame?” Nicole’s tone was shrill, her swagger reminiscent of a bratty schoolgirl.
Alicia stared at her as if she were a joke, barely able to contain her laughter.
“Tyrone, you’ve got some nerve showing your face here,” Mina chimed in, piling on the mockery.
Nicole crossed her arms, glaring. “Take a good look in the mirror, Tyrone. You’re not the CEO of Lynch Corporation anymore. Even if the old man handed over every penny he has, you’d still burn through it in no time. You’ll never amount to anything. And you, Alicia—still daydreaming that he can protect you?”
Alicia rolled her eyes. “Maybe you should get your head checked before you start worrying about anyone else.” She tapped her own temple, smirking. “You seem a little slow today.”
Alicia just grinned, wrapping both arms around Tyrone’s. “Why would we leave the best show in town?”
Jade let out a cold laugh. “Alicia, you really don’t know when to quit, do you?”
With a toss of her hair, Jade marched out with Nicole, Mina and the others trailing behind.
Alicia, giddy with anticipation, tugged Tyrone along after them.
The show was about to start.

In the grand ballroom, the old man had spared no expense. Every prominent figure in the business world had been invited, turning the event into a lavish, high-profile affair.
Top journalists and media outlets from both Harboridge City and Seaview City were already inside, waiting for the main event to begin.
