Mignon was surprised by the question.
But she nodded. "Wilma was my best friend. Of course I know what she looked like. Why? Are you curious about this predecessor, Anastasia?"
Anastasia shook her head and took out a photograph. "Then... did she look like this?"
Mignon took the photo, froze for a second, and blurted out, "Where did you get a picture of Wilma?"
A jolt went through Anastasia's heart.
So, it was really true…?
She calmed herself. "Mrs. Calderon, this is a picture of my mother. Her name was Cecilia."
"What did you say?!" Mignon was stunned. "Your mother? Then that means you're…"
She stood up excitedly, her eyes turning red as she estimated Anastasia's age. "You're the child Wilma was carrying back then?!"
Anastasia was taken aback. Did Mignon's words mean she knew Gabriel wasn't her father?
"My mother passed away when I was very young. My father is Gabriel, but he later told me he wasn't my biological father…"
She briefly recounted her life growing up in Fairhaven and then looked at Mignon expectantly. "Mrs. Calderon, do you know who my father is?"
Mignon was just as stunned. She shook her head, never having imagined that Cecilia had been hiding in Fairhaven, married to someone else, and had died under such mysterious circumstances…
"I don't know… I was so surprised when your mother suddenly became pregnant. But she was always tight-lipped about your biological father. She never told me who the man was, not even before she left."
