“What’s the deal with the Lockwood family?” Anastasia whispered, noticing Mr. Lockwood’s respectful yet fearful attitude toward Harrison.
“They’re moderately wealthy,” Harrison replied.
Seeing Anastasia’s curiosity, he elaborated, and she was quite surprised by what she heard.
She had assumed that for the Lockwoods to be engaged to the Jacksons, they must be a family of similar standing.
But it turned out the Lockwood family was just an ordinary wealthy family.
Even their “wealth” was only relative to the average person. Compared to prominent families like the Jacksons, the Lockwoods were nothing.
The two families were close only because Mrs. Lockwood and Marcus’s mother had been classmates in their youth and later became best friends.
Anastasia was confused. “With such a huge gap between the families, how did Yolanda and Marcus get engaged?”
“Apparently, Yolanda did Marcus a great favor many years ago.”
A family like the Jacksons would typically favor an alliance with another major family. Marcus himself had always planned for that, which was why he had been such a playboy before.
But just as the Jacksons were about to finalize an engagement with another prominent family, Yolanda appeared out of nowhere.
First, she threw tantrums at home. Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood, unable to handle her, had to swallow their pride and approach the Jackson family.
In the end, the engagement was sealed because of that mysterious “favor” from years ago.
Anastasia mulled this over, then asked, “Hubby, do you know how Yolanda was adopted by the Lockwoods?”
