"But my uncle, Murray, was killed by Harrison!" Crystal cried as she was helped up. "We only plotted against him a little, and he paid for it with my uncle's life! Wasn't that enough?!"
"Enough? Of course it's not enough!" Anastasia sneered. "Who the hell was your uncle? What is his worthless life supposed to be compensation for?!"
Besides, Sonder's message clearly stated that Murray had tried to harm Harrison first and was killed in self-defense! How could that be called "compensation"?!
"Then what more do you want... Do you want to kill him?!"
Lennon's life?
Anastasia's icy eyes looked down at the man beneath her foot.
She truly wanted nothing more than to kill him right here, right now.
But she couldn't. Her reason stopped her just in time.
Killing him meant going to prison. To ruin her future and be separated from Harrison over a piece of trash like this... it wasn't worth it.
As she was wondering what to do, her phone rang again. This time it was a call, and surprisingly, it was Barnett.
She answered, and Barnett's gentle voice came through the line.
"Anastasia, what are you up to?"
"Nothing much," she said, trying to keep her tone normal. "Is there something I can help you with, Barnett?"
"Not really. It's just that before Harrison left, he asked me to look after you, to make sure no one gives you any troub— Hmm? What's that noise on your end?"
His pupils trembled slightly, his expression complex.
*This* was the delicate little treasure Harrison was so worried would get bullied that he'd specifically asked him to look after her during a three-day trip abroad?
"Barnett, you're here."
Anastasia looked up. Since she'd already asked for Barnett's help, there was no point in hiding anything. She gave the half-dead Lennon another hard kick.
"Did you bring a doctor? I might have gotten a little carried away. I plan on keeping him here for a week, and I'd hate for him to die on me."
Hearing her say something so brutal so calmly, Barnett didn't know what to think. He walked over, amused.
