The seemingly deranged Simon was forcibly thrown out by a stoic bodyguard. Even from a distance, Anastasia could hear his furious shouts. He seemed to genuinely believe he was on the same level as Harrison...
With an indescribable feeling, Anastasia turned her attention away.
Meanwhile, Ryan returned to his residence.
Susan immediately rushed to greet him. "Ryan, what happened? Did Harrison agree to let Lennon join the Lancaster Group?"
Ryan's expression was cold. "No."
Susan grew anxious. "No? Then what about Lennon? He's all grown up, and he still can't get into the Lancaster Group..."
Ryan suddenly looked up. "He was never a Lancaster to begin with. Is it really that strange he can't join the Lancaster Group?"
Susan's tone held a hint of resentment. If Lennon were actually a Lancaster, it would be one thing, but he wasn't. And with such a disgraceful background, where did Susan get the confidence to think her son deserved the same treatment as a true Lancaster heir?
Meeting his slightly probing gaze, Susan's heart tightened. She quickly suppressed her own indignation and urgency, explaining, "Ryan, I'm just thinking about our Carter..."
She sat beside Ryan, adopting a gentle and considerate demeanor, her eyes filled with a touch of sorrow. "I know that even though Lennon changed his last name, he's still not a true Lancaster, so I'm not asking for too much for him. But Carter is different..."
"Carter is still so young and in such poor health. Harrison would never let him join the company. But if we don't plan for him now, it'll be too late by the time he's grown. Will there even be a place for him in the company then?"
She looked sad. "I don't want Carter to lose what he's entitled to as a Lancaster heir just because of my status. So I thought, since Lennon is Carter's older brother, he could hold a position for Carter for now. Once Carter is grown, he can just give it back to him."
Ryan gave her an unreadable look.
Susan held her breath, watching him nervously.
Ryan remained noncommittal, finally saying only, "He didn't agree. Don't bring it up again."
...
"A business trip?"
"Abroad?"
Hearing this news, Anastasia's spirits instantly deflated.
It was terrible timing. She had already promised to visit the Austin family for the next two days to help her mentor with something, so there was no way she could go with Harrison on his trip.
"How many days will you be gone?" she asked, throwing herself into his arms and looking up at him pitifully.
Wrapping an arm around her waist, Harrison leaned down and kissed her cheek, then pulled her onto his lap in the office chair. "I'll be back in three days."
