Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 456

But just now, she’d actually tried to use that life-saving favor from five years ago as leverage against him...

Benson couldn’t shake the feeling that she wasn’t quite the person he remembered. Something about her was different, and he couldn’t put his finger on it.

Still, agitation simmered inside him, making it impossible to focus on these doubts while the girl pressed her forehead to the car window. He brushed the uneasy thoughts aside, telling himself he was probably just overthinking it.

Yet, when it came to Lauren, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment.

Anastasia didn’t miss the shift in his expression. Her lips curled in a faint, knowing smile before she looked at him earnestly. “Benson, there’s been too much misunderstanding between me and the Brennan family over the years. I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain—give me the opportunity to show you who I really am. In time, you’ll see for yourself.”

She glanced at her watch, then stepped back. “I should go.”

With that, she turned and strode into the Global Harmony Medical Institute.

Benson’s hands tightened around the steering wheel, his classically handsome features shifting through a storm of conflicted emotions before settling into a cold, forbidding mask.

A bitter, humorless laugh escaped him, echoing through the car.

“Misunderstandings? What a joke.”

He hadn’t forgotten the birthday gift he’d picked out so carefully, only to find it tossed in the Sterling family’s trash.

Nor had he forgotten that day on set five years ago, when he was bitten by a snake and certain he wouldn’t make it. Desperate, he’d called her three times—each one went unanswered, leaving him colder and more hopeless with every ring.

He’d been delirious with fever, teetering on the edge of death, barely able to type out a final message to her: maybe this was goodbye. She’d ignored him anyway—her only response was to hang up on his last call.

And then, two years ago, he’d found Winni bleeding out, while she had slipped away long before anyone realized.

Leaning back, Benson closed his eyes, jaw tight, his face a mask of ice and indifference.

She wondered just how far Lauren would go this time.

The Institute’s library was massive, spanning fifteen floors. Anastasia had just about finished wandering through it when she received a message, instructing her to join the meeting after all.

So it begins.

Her lips curled into a chilly smile as she raised her brows.

Ten minutes later, she entered the conference room to find it packed. Mr. Evert, Lauren, Cora, and Erin were all there; the rest were faces she didn’t recognize.

As soon as she appeared in the doorway, every eye in the room turned to her, their stares tinged with something she couldn’t quite decipher.

Lauren’s lips twisted into a frosty smile. “As I just explained, it’s time to vote. All in favor of expelling Anastasia from the Global Harmony Medical Institute—please raise your hand.”
