Earlier, someone mentioned that if this treatment fails, the patient will have to leave Fairhaven—which suggests he’s not a local, just here for medical care.
No one really knew who the patient was, but one thing was certain: his status was anything but ordinary.
Inside the manor, the butler led them to a quiet guest room.
Anastasia’s eyes were immediately drawn to the man lying motionless on the bed.
He was strikingly handsome, his face almost ghostly pale, eyes closed. Even in such stillness, he radiated a kind of innate nobility that couldn’t be hidden.
Lauren stepped aside with practiced elegance, gesturing to Cora and Erin. “You two go first.”
Cora approached the bed. As she checked the patient’s pulse, her expression shifted, worry flickering across her face. “Mr. Calderon’s condition… it’s worse than before.”
Erin moved in to examine him as well; soon, her face tightened with concern.
“It really is getting worse. Honestly, I thought maybe I could help, but in this state, there’s nothing I can do.”
She looked at Lauren and shrugged helplessly. “Lauren, it’s up to you now.”
Both women knew when they were outmatched, and neither hesitated to admit it.
Lauren was about to step forward, but suddenly turned to Anastasia, a faint smile playing at her lips. “Why don’t you go first, Anastasia?”
Anastasia glanced at her, unfazed, and strode to the bedside. She was deeply curious about Mr. Calderon’s mysterious illness.
“Who is this young lady?” the butler asked, having never seen Anastasia before.
Cora and Erin exchanged awkward glances, unsure how to respond.
Lauren shot a sly look at Anastasia, then replied, a touch too casual, “She’s a new student at Global Harmony Medical Institute this year. A true prodigy—scored a perfect mark on an exam everyone else failed.”
The butler’s eyes widened in surprise and hope. “Does that mean my young master actually has a chance?”
