Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 307

“I’m not trying to start anything—I’m just bored out of my mind and looking for a little entertainment, that’s all. So, I heard your mom’s some kind of miracle doctor?”

Shirley’s tone dripped with mockery. Miracle doctor? Please. Maybe she had some reputation in Fairhaven, but Shirley had never even heard her name mentioned back in Riverton. She figured Anastasia’s mother was probably just another small-town quack.

“So what if she is?” Anastasia’s voice was cool.

“Well, that makes things interesting for us, doesn’t it? Let’s play a little game—” Shirley gestured for her lackey to pull out a thick copy of *Herbal Remedies Unveiled*, her smile turning downright malicious. “You and Penelope can have a little contest. Three days. Let’s see who can memorize more from this book.”

“If you win, you get your bracelet back. But if you lose—”

“You get down on your knees, bark like a dog three times, and then voluntarily withdraw from Kingsbridge University! How about it?”

Her words set off a wave of shocked whispers.

“You’ve gone too far!” Juliet, usually timid, stepped forward, her voice shaking with anger.

No one knew better than she did: her aunt really was a miracle worker, but her cousin Anastasia had never studied medicine a day in her life. Meanwhile, Penelope had been training for years!

It was a wildly unfair competition. Anastasia was a complete novice, and for all they knew, Penelope had probably already memorized *Herbal Remedies Unveiled* cover to cover.

But the moment Juliet started to protest the unfairness, Shirley and her crew just burst out laughing. “What’s the matter? Aren’t you supposed to be the miracle doctor’s daughter? Scared to compete? We’re not asking you to memorize the whole thing—just see who does better. Or is the miracle doctor’s daughter actually dumber than a layperson?”

The taunts came thick and fast—

“Yeah, what’s the matter? Chicken out already?”

“Maybe your mom’s reputation is just a sham.”

“If you’re so scared, just quit now. Get on your knees, bark for us, and get out of Kingsbridge while you’re at it!”

She smiled, but there was no warmth in it. “How about this: if I lose, I’ll do exactly as you say. But if I win, not only do I get my bracelet back—Shirley, you and Penelope can get down on your knees and bark like dogs as well. Deal?”

Shirley’s face darkened, but before she could protest, Anastasia’s eyes narrowed, her tone mocking. “What’s wrong? Afraid?”

Shirley looked to Penelope.

Penelope nodded, brimming with confidence.

No one knew better than she did what a hopeless case Anastasia was. She might have a famous mother, but Penelope and her own mother had spent years subtly sabotaging her, making sure she never learned a thing. Once, Gabriel—Anastasia’s father—had held onto a glimmer of hope for his daughter and even pulled some strings with Cecilia before she died, convincing a renowned medical professor to tutor Anastasia.

But Anastasia had been utterly unteachable; a little push from Penelope and her mom was all it took to make her rebel against Gabriel at every turn. She never learned a thing, and in the end, she’d frustrated the professor so much he’d refused to teach her anymore.

Meanwhile, Penelope and her sister had soaked up everything they could, riding on the coattails of that opportunity. Her sister, Queena Sterling, had even caught the professor’s eye and been brought to Riverton for special mentoring.
