Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 293

Harrison’s expression changed in an instant. The housekeeper barely sensed a rush of air before realizing he’d already strode out of the room.

The garden was utter chaos. Servants scrambled to pull Anastasia and Marcus out of the flowerbeds.

“Mr. Lancaster!”

As Harrison arrived, the icy sharpness in his eyes sent the staff scattering out of his way.

With the crowd parting, Anastasia and Marcus were suddenly exposed at the center of the mess.

The two of them sat gracelessly in the trampled flowers, spitting dirt and leaves from their mouths. The once-pristine flowerbed was now a disaster zone.

The moment she saw Harrison, Anastasia reached out, looking pitiful as she pleaded, “Honey, my ankle hurts…”

Harrison’s body moved before his mind caught up. The instant she said she was hurt, he swept her up into his arms, his face set in stone. “What happened?” he demanded.

Anastasia buried her face against his broad shoulder, embarrassed and at a loss for words.

Logan, who’d witnessed everything, cleared his throat and tried to explain. “Well, it was like this… Mr. Marcus Jackson’s wheelchair hit a stone, and then, uh, Mrs. Lancaster couldn’t stop in time…”

So, in the blink of an eye, the two of them had tumbled headfirst into the flowerbed, getting a mouthful of dirt for their trouble.

Anastasia kept her head down, mortified. She’d never been so humiliated in her life.

Marcus, still stranded on the ground with no one to help him up, looked longingly at Anastasia cradled in Harrison’s arms. Jealousy and bitterness warred on his face. “Harrison, my foot hurts too…”

Harrison shot him a frosty look. “Isn’t your wheelchair right there?”

Marcus was speechless.

Anastasia nearly burst out laughing.

In the end, Harrison relented—though his expression didn’t soften—and ordered the servants to help Marcus up.

Anastasia had only mentioned her foot hurting, without further complaint, but Harrison still carried her inside and called for the doctor to take a look.

If Marcus hadn’t been careening around like a maniac, would she have taken a spill?

Marcus grimaced. “If I didn’t move faster, was I supposed to just sit there and let you hit me?”

Anastasia sputtered, “Well, if you hadn’t run your mouth, would I have wanted to hit you in the first place?”

She went on: “And really, aren’t you a bit old to be goofing off with me? How childish are you?”

Mr. Jackson, who was still very sensitive about his age, protested, “I’m only twenty-five!”

“Twenty-five? Wow, that’s ancient,” Anastasia teased. “I’m only nineteen!”

Marcus was stung, but quickly countered with a gloating grin, “If twenty-five is old, then what about Harrison? He’s twenty-seven!”

“My husband is twenty-seven—so what?” Anastasia retorted. “He could be eighty and he’d still be the most handsome man in my eyes. Unlike you—who’s just a grumpy old man!”
