Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 273

“What’s wrong?”

Even though his subordinate on the other end of the line sounded frantic, Harrison set his phone aside and turned to look at her.

Anastasia’s mind raced.

She knew just how crucial those medical records were to him—his health had always been a tightly guarded secret within the Lancaster family. Rumors had long swirled outside that he was gravely ill and on death’s door, but the Lancaster family had never acknowledged any of it, so the gossip remained just that—rumors.

But if those records ever saw the light of day, if people learned that Harrison Lancaster—the pillar of the Lancaster family—was actually dying, the impact on the family would be catastrophic.

So of course he’d go. There was no way he wouldn’t.

But she also knew that “negotiation” was never the real goal; a trap had already been set. If he went, she was certain—just like last time—disaster would strike.

She couldn’t let that happen.

“My head—my head hurts!” she suddenly cried out, stumbling into his arms, her voice trembling with distress.

Worry beaded sweat across her forehead, making the act all the more convincing.

Harrison’s attention snapped to her instantly. “Logan!”

Logan appeared at the doorway. “Yes, Mr. Lancaster?”

“Get the car. We’re going to the hospital!”

Even as he spoke, he was already scooping her up in his arms and striding out the door.

Anastasia was settled into the back seat. Her nerves eased a little, though her heart still pounded. Harrison gently wiped the sweat from her brow, then pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and murmured, “Be good. Logan will take you to see the doctor.”

And just like that, he started to leave.

Her eyes flew wide. She reacted before she could think, grabbing hold of him. “Don’t go, darling—please, stay with me—”

“Mr. Lancaster, I—”

Harrison’s dark brows drew together. “Speak.”

Even as he demanded answers, he kept one hand gently on Anastasia, soothing her.

Tonight, his young wife seemed especially delicate. Even on the hospital bed, she clung to him, half sprawled across his lap and refusing to let go.

“We… we haven’t found anything wrong. Your wife seems perfectly healthy…” the doctor said hesitantly.

“Darling, it hurts so much…” Anastasia whimpered, dialing up her distress.

Harrison’s expression turned thunderous. “Does that look perfectly healthy to you? Run the tests again!”

They ran every test a second time, then a third, but the results were always the same. The doctor was sweating bullets by now, forced to admit, “Mr. Lancaster, the human brain is incredibly complex. With current medical technology, we haven’t mapped every possibility. Perhaps it would be best to consult a larger clinic or a specialist hospital…”
