Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 266

At first, she went to the hospital, but she was a step too late—Anastasia had already been discharged. So she hurried over to Rosewood Manor next.

Seeing how anxious Juliet was, Anastasia propped up her injured foot for her to inspect.

“It’s really nothing serious,” she assured her. “The doctor said I just need a couple of days to rest. See for yourself if you don’t believe me.”

Juliet’s delicate brows furrowed in concern. She examined Anastasia’s ankle with the focus of a scientist studying some critical specimen, refusing to take her cousin’s word for it until she was satisfied. Only then did she finally rise from the floor.

“That Alice was way out of line!” Juliet fumed, unable to contain her anger.

Anastasia waved her hand dismissively. “Alice already got what she deserved. Let’s not waste another word on her.”

She changed the subject. “So, what have you been up to these past couple of days? You’ve taken time off.”

At the mention of this, Juliet’s mood visibly darkened, though she tried to hide it. But Anastasia’s sharp eyes missed nothing.

Her tone dropped. “What’s going on, Juliet? Tell me the truth—has someone been giving you a hard time?”

Moved by her cousin’s concern, Juliet’s eyes shimmered with tears. She shook her head, her voice muffled. “No, nothing like that…”

She hesitated, then finally admitted, “I took some time off to, um, film a show.”

“A show?” Anastasia echoed, suddenly remembering—her cousin had once tried her luck in the entertainment world.

Despite her family’s standing, and having a brother who was a major star, Juliet never made a name for herself. Years in the industry, and she was still a nobody, lost in the crowd. Then, something happened—some scandal, vicious rumors spread online, and soon the internet turned on her. The whole country was calling for her to quit.

Anastasia had seen the news back then and been frantic with worry. She’d planned to reach out—to ask what had really happened, to see if there was anything she could do—but before she had the chance, her own life had been cut short in a senseless accident.

Juliet ducked her head, the smile on her lips a bit strained. “I just… got interested, I guess.”

Anastasia was lost in childhood memories for a moment, but as soon as she looked up, she noticed something off about her cousin’s demeanor.

She narrowed her eyes, but seeing how much Juliet wanted to avoid the topic, she pretended not to notice and smoothly steered the conversation elsewhere.

The two spent the rest of the evening together. As dusk settled in, Juliet got ready to leave—if she stayed any longer, her family would call, and she couldn’t risk them finding out she’d been with Anastasia. If they did, they’d put a stop to their relationship for good.

Anastasia wheeled herself to the door to see Juliet off, watching as her cousin climbed into the car.

Just then, Marcus returned home. In the fading light, he caught a glimpse of Juliet’s profile as she got into the car—and froze in his tracks.
