“We already called the police, but the other driver died at the scene. They haven’t found any leads yet,” Harrison said, squeezing her hand.
Rena secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“But anyone who does something like this is bound to leave a trace. It’s only a matter of time before the person behind it is caught.”
As Harrison spoke those cold words, Rena’s expression shifted subtly again.
Anastasia’s suspicions solidified, and she gave a silent, cold smile.
By evening, Colby’s condition had improved, and he was moved to a regular ward.
He finally woke up around noon the next day.
As he was Anastasia’s savior, the Lancasters were deeply concerned about his recovery. When they heard he was awake, they went to visit him immediately.
The entire Jones family was in the hospital room when they arrived. Colby was speaking with Mrs. Jones Sr.
When he heard the Lancasters had come, Colby looked toward the door, his gaze faltering for a moment before it landed on Anastasia.
“Are you okay?” he asked gently.
“I’m fine,” Anastasia replied, pretending she still didn’t know about their connection. “Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might not be standing here right now.”
Harrison, standing beside her, added, “We can never fully repay you for saving her life. If you ever need anything from the Lancaster family, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
Colby shook his head from his hospital bed. “There’s no need. Saving her was something I had to do.”
At his words, everyone in the room turned to look at him.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones asked in confusion, “Colby, what do you mean by that?”
Rena’s heart leaped. Realizing what was about to happen, she started to step forward to stop him, but Colby was faster—
“Dad, Mom, Anastasia is my sister’s child.”
“What?!” Mr. Jones Sr. and Mrs. Jones Sr. shot to their feet in unison.
