Her gaze turned instantly cold.
"It's you?!"
She asked bluntly, "What is your goal?"
"My goal? Don't you know?" Serena's pale little face twisted into a sinister, chilling smile as she stared intently at Anastasia's impossibly beautiful face.
"I've loved Timothy since we were children. I worked so hard and finally got engaged to him. If nothing had gone wrong, I would have married him this year or next and become his wife."
"But then, something went wrong—you. Is this the face you used to seduce my fiancé?" The cold blade of the knife pressed against Anastasia's cheek. Serena's expression was deceptively innocent. "If I destroy this face of yours, will Timothy still like you?"
The blade was cold against her skin, poised to slice through her delicate flesh at any moment.
In that instant, a chilling hatred flared in Anastasia's eyes.
Suddenly, she remembered the agony of flames licking at her skin in her past life.
In her past life, she had been set up and nearly died in a fire. She escaped, but her face was completely destroyed!
The person who did it wasn't Penelope or Aaron. She could never figure out who else she had offended, who would use such a vicious method to harm her.
Since her rebirth, she had never given up searching for that person. She had started to think she'd never find the answer, but she never imagined it would be Serena!
This life, at least, made some sense; Timothy had been shamelessly pestering her. But in her past life, she barely knew Timothy and had never even met Serena!
"Ms. Mitchell," she said, her voice like ice, "if I recall correctly, it was your fiancé who was harassing me, not the other way around."
Serena's expression didn't change. "So what? The fact that you appeared before him was your mistake. The fact that you have a face like this was your mistake! So today, you're going to pay the price for it!"
"If you harm me, aren't you afraid of retaliation from the Lancaster family?"
Serena said, "I've been planning this for a long time. I forced myself to wait until today to make my move. No one will find out it was me."
A chill shot through Anastasia's heart.
If Serena only wanted to ruin her face, why would she speak so recklessly? After all, wouldn't Anastasia accuse her after she escaped?
Unless... she had no intention of letting her leave alive!
