Serena walked over and said gently, "Timothy, I've convinced my parents. They're willing to help the Lawson family, but... we might have to get married sooner."

Timothy turned his gaze from the view and chuckled. "Thank you for the kind offer, but that won't be necessary."

"Why?" Serena was caught off guard by his refusal. "Wouldn't it be good to have my family's help?"

"I heard everyone has been so worried, unable to rest..."

Timothy listened with a detached air.

When Serena finished, he simply said, "It's not needed."

"Then can you tell me why you helped Naomi?" Serena asked, her eyes downcast. Before he could answer, she provided her own conclusion. "Was it because of Anastasia? If she and Mr. Harrison Lancaster split up, you'd have your chance?"

In the end, Serena didn't get a clear answer from Timothy, but she knew it wasn't because he was afraid or unwilling to answer. It was because he couldn't be bothered. The answer was just that obvious.

A shadow flickered in Serena's eyes. She left without another word.
