Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1902

“Jenna! Drop the act, will you? My dad made it clear—you need us now!” The guy on the other end was fuming.

Adler knew the heir to the corporation had always had a thing for Jenna. Back then, he was head over heels for her. But Jenna was a tough cookie, never one to bow down to any man. A woman with such grit can easily flip a man's love into anger.

The heir thought he could keep Jenna around by throwing threats her way, but to Jenna, that was a slap in the face. “I’ll decide what I need, thanks.”

Jenna strolled over to Adler, helped him up, and without a second glance, they were off. Adler could still hear the heir’s tantrum, things crashing against the door.

That night, Jenna and Adler wandered the streets, no real direction in mind. Adler knew his reckless actions had stirred up trouble for Jenna. Yet, she didn’t hold it against him; she just stayed quiet.

“I didn’t mean for things to get messy. I just couldn’t stand him pushing you around,” Adler said, tugging at Jenna’s sleeve, his voice laced with regret.

“I know you were looking out for me,” Jenna replied. “It’s not on you. That guy’s been a jerk for ages, and I’ve been dying to put him in his place.”

Ruffling his hair like she always did, Jenna treated him like a little brother. “Thanks, my good little brother.”

That year, Jenna climbed to the top of Dennis Group. She stood in the CEO’s office, but this time, she was the one calling the shots, looking down at her father, who lay there, shattered.

She pushed him out, step by step. But that night, she wasn’t as thrilled as she thought she’d be. She couldn’t handle her liquor and tended to get wild when she drank, but she loved it anyway.

Adler stayed by her side, helping her through that tough night. The next day, Jenna showed up like nothing had happened. Adler realized that from then on, Jenna could finally live life on her terms.

He stopped worrying about whether his father cared about him; what mattered was whether Jenna would be in his life moving forward.
